ETA:
You are starting from scratch. You have been a pedestrian your whole life. 1. Buy a pickup of your choice (Ford, Chevy, Dodge, etc who cares..including hummer or unimog type vehicles for this particular thread) 2. Buy sports car of your choice (porsche, lambo, ferrari,Trans Am... etc who cares) @Ohiogators @DK-Prof Yes I know you could buy both with $100M, but the point is which would you buy first, which would you actually RATHER have? |
Sports car.
I already have enough pickup trucks, I lack a proper sports car. GT3RS would likely be my first purchase. |
I am getting the pickup. And it remains to be seen if I would even ever buy a sports car, cause I just don't care enough. Even they are really cool when other people own them.
Truck, b/c hauling stuff is common in the country. Sports cars can't hack the dirt roads w/snow & ice.
Neither
I'd go with a luxury vehicle I'd hire someone who has trucks to haul my shit |
Pickup would be the second vehicle I buy, but the first of the two options presented.
The first vehicle I would buy should I have life changing money fall into my lap would be a full off restoration/mod of the '88 Grand Wagoneer in my shed, by a professional shop to my specifications.
I’d contact OVC for a new 1965 GT350 Competition, then a new current GT350R.
Edit: actually I changed my mind. First I’d buy a fully operational M18 Hellcat, then the Mustangs... |
I'd buy a place in free America with plenty of space for a private range.
First thing I'd pull that hundred million out of the bank and put it where it'll do some good and live off the interest.
Probably an EarthRoamer XVHD. And drive it around the city, just because.

Never been comfortable in a sports car cager. Pickup cager fits me better.
King Ranch, fully loaded truck is the first, but not the last vehicle I would buy.
I'd just have someone drive me. I hate people and driving these days. I'd take some of that money and build a reasonable sized house on a nice spot of land and put a small road course/dragstrip on it though.
With $100 million, the answer is obviously “get both” - meaning a crew cab truck for practical stuff, and an exotic or two for fun.
ETA: when we retire, my wife and I plan to get a crew cab 150, and that will be our only car. |
Tacoma or 4Runner... with 4WD.
That said if I could foresee a lot of longer road trips with family in the future... F-250 or something similar. I love the sound of a diesel on the highway and they're roomy as fuck. |
I want a Ford Raptor. So that.
Then land. No need or want for a sports car. |
Ram AEV prospector XL limited mega cab. with a diesel of course. then id yank off all the def shit.
then id buy a house in FL and in MT. drift away... |
Unreal.
If I suddenly had $100m, a car or truck wouldn’t make the list of top 100 things I’d buy. Op needs to expand his horizons |
Get both!
Then take nunchuck lessons from this guy Dual wield |
First vehicle would be an F250/350 Limited so I can haul my track cars around with an enclosed trailer full of tools.

I'd be on the phone ordering one of these as soon as the money hit my account:

I used to want a sports car in my 20s and 30s. But that was to look rich. If I actually am rich with 100m in the bank, I don't need to show off. So I would get a truck that could tow other toys like rock crawlers and RVs.
Truck first because i'll need the bed to haul all the aftermarket parts i'm about to buy for all the things.

vehicles to buy with $100 million ?
after buying 1000 acres ( at a minimum ) to build a house on. theres 40 thousand acres for sale right now in colorado for $42 million. that would be perfect. https://www.farmflip.com/farm/208247 sink approx 50% of my $100 million in land, multimillion buck small 3000 sq' home with 10,000 sq' state of the art bunker under it, thats located at the end of a 5 mile long private driveway, outfit the place with everything i need, NFA weapons, ammo, gear, hire some guys to farm parts of it to get property tax reductions, probably run a hunting operation on it for a fun side project, and have a hell of a lot of fun while i live pretty quietly and secretively on the rest of the cash ! for the record, once i blew 1/2 my worth buying land, vehicles and weapons and ammo, furnishings, clothing, etc, id basically be setting pretty. i could easily live on the interest alone the other 50 million would provide, as id keep busy with projects, shooting, and some inexpensive traveling / hunting trips.. vehicles in order... the only new ones would be the side by sides, truck and car ) ( id need these for completing my projects, building shit, having fun etc . 1. extra cab 4x4 pickup. ............................$45k 2. dodge charger or similar as a daily driver... $35k... 3. unimog's as in several ( cheap surplus military models, not insanely expensive civilian ) say $40-50k for 2 nice ones. 4. m113 based tracked ammo carrier. ...........$35k, ( one was on facebook recently ) 5. several side by side's..................... ..........$15k each / $30k 6. deuce and a half ......................................$10k 7. 5 ton 6x6 surplus wrecker ........................$15k 8. 5 ton 6x6 surplus dump truck ...................$15k 9. bearcat. ( or similar ).................................$100k ? 10. sherman tank..........................................$300k 11. trackhoe..................................................$50k ? 12. small dozer...............................................$50k 13. backhoe..................................................$40k vehicle / motorpool total... approx $750k.... ( plus build a pole barn / motorpool area, stock with tools and hire a guy / mechanic to keep them running. ) |
Pickup, unless you have access to a track most of a sports car's abilities are wasted.
In point of fact the average family sedan is close to a 70"s sport sedan in capability. |
Never been a car guy. However I’d buy neither. I’d get a Bentley or some such car. I’d want to drive a reclining sofa wrapped in a luxury hotel room.

King Ranch F250
$100MM isn't going to make me love other people any more, it's going to give me an escape path. |
