Nope. Lost me at “creamy slaw”

Mayo =

Best cold sandwich is: wheat bread, spicy mustard, Boar’s Head Salsalito turkey, apple slices, and straight Colby cheese.

Try it, and know that I am correct.

Slab meat sandwich is not how a good sandwich is supposed to be made.

OP's sammich is a disgusting mess of pedestrian ingredients. He clearly lacks sophistication and taste.

A proper NO Muffaletta for me, please.

BTW: that ain't a sloppy Joe, no.

Totally content to be wrong - but I ain't. All the wrong is on OP's sammich. WOULD NOT EAT

There are two good things that came out of New Jersey. My wife and this sandwich. Every winter she asks me to make it..

So let me introduce you to a Proper Sloppy Joe.

Three slices of Rye. Butter the top and bottom slice to protect from moisture.

Swiss for the bottom and middle. I guess you could use provolone.

Roast beef and turkey

Russian if you got it but thousand works.

I fucking hate that bread. Local deli joint uses it on their Reubens and it blows compared with regular Russian Rye. You could leave out the turkey also as I prefer to eat turkey sandwiches that I cooked the bird.

Thats not a sloppy joe. What you are describing is a rueben.

Mayo? Mayo doesn't belong on a rueben. Ever. Hell mayo doesn't belong on anything. Ever.
Processed slimy looking crap turkey?

No. That's garbage, OP.

A proper rueben is made with pastrami or corned beef, Swiss, Russian dressing and Cole slaw. And a rueben is usually warm.
You fail, OP.

Looks good, but in no way shape or form is that a "sloppy Joe"

OP as a former NJ resident I am with you on this type of sloppy joe being delicious. They also come in a sorts of configurations with different meat combos. Most of the people in this thread don’t know what they are talking about. That ground meat vomit sloppy joe is trash. Also I have to say is Italian is best cold sandwich.

The best cold sandwich is a Capriotti's Bobbie...Shredded turkey, mayo, stuffing, and cranberry sauce on a tasty roll...Best sandwich in Vegas for 8 years running or something crazy...

Thats what I had for thanksgiving dinner this year...

A Club sandwich is the only decent cold sandwich that has turkey on it; A Hot Brown is the only hot sandwich with turkey that's any good.  I'd rather have a good tuna sandwich or a sub/hoagie/grinder/hero/spuckie/etc., etc. with Italian meats and cheeses.

While OP's sandwiches look really good, and I would smash, this post is correct.

An Italian, hot or cold, is a great sandwich.

Best is sliced fresh tomato, mayo, and wheat or rye bread.

Second would be cold fried bologna or spam, mayo, and Vidalia onion.

Third is salami, onion, and mayo.

You are wrong thousand island dressing breath lol
Your sandwich looks good and probably tastes good but it’s not the best. To me the best is cold pork roast from the night before. On some good bread, whatever I have on hand. Then top it with sauerkraut and good German hot mustard.

Seriously? Two pages and nobody knows what the best cold sandwich is?
MEATLOAF !!!!! In my house, meatloaf is made specifically for use as sandwiches for the following few days.
Additionally, if you need a "recipe" to make a damn sandwich, you might just as well cook a meal. A sandwich is supposed to be simple and quick, not a big production.

ooo that is a good sandwich it fits the simple man I am

but up here it's a slice of italian bread with some quality mustard wrapped around a cold charcoal grilled brat

one of my personal favorites is home made Pastrami and turkey

https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/127073/PXL_20221224_224330738_jpg-2647650.JPG

But the magic is wrapping it all up and pressing in some plastic wrap and letting it sit for a couple days.

Come Dec 26th this is going to be some bomb ass sandwiches.

If you disagree you are just Fucking wrong.

Best purchased cold sammich for me if late is a "Jersey Shore" from a Jersey Mike's in town. I'm not a fan of much from NJ, but that sammich is awesome.

Best homemade? Same as always. Dump cold, home cooked leftover pot roast on good bread with good mayo and a slice of sharp cheddar. A dash of salt and pepper and call it good. Been in love with those since my mother served me the first one. KISS and just awesome.

Don’t know- mine seldom lasts long enough to make sandwiches afterward. It’s basically a gigantic, oddly shaped Italian meatball.  Who doesn’t like meatballs?
