Downed Pakistan pilot mistaken for Indian pilot and lynched

New Delhi: Even as Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman walked across the India-Pakistan border on 1 March, a family in Pakistan is in mourning  silent, blacked out from the public view, their sacrifice unacknowledged. Pakistan Air Force Wing Commander Shahaz-ud-Din, the F-16 pilot shot down in a dogfight over the Nowshera sector, is reported to have been lynched by a mob who mistook him for an Indian airman.
Sucks for that guy but goddamn are the pakis too stupid to understand their own language and uniform?

The initial report from yesterday on this is that his uniform got a bit shredded in the ejection so they couldn't tell who he was.

India is claiming their MiG shot down a Paki F-16.

Paki F-16 pilot ejected and the silk delivered him his home territory where he was lynched by his own countrymen because they thought he was Indian.

Please anybody correct me if I am wrong in my summary.

Somewhat related a neat old video tallying location of nukes detonated over the years. It’s a bit old so it’s missing North Koreas. But it does put into perspective how vastly overblown the “OMG any nukes used will kill us all!” crowd.

India was strongly associated with the Soviets to a considerable extent through the Cold War.  Technically not a 2nd World country, though, as, IIRC, they were not technically aligned with either side (they also maintained some relationship with the British for a time and bought a lot of their stuff post-independence).  They maintained this relationship with Russia after the breakup of the USSR.

India was "non-aligned",meaning vaguely favorable to the Soviets. Pakistan had favorable relations with the US and had been supplied with F-86s and F-104s previously. It got F-16s after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Some were impounded and never delivered but the Whur on Turruh gave them leverage to receive more, some formerly Dutch ones too, with the US telling them not to use them vs India in the same way as a parent telling their child not to shoot their sister with a squirt gun. The US doesn't want Pakistan to become a 100% Chinese client so it makes some moral compromises, like losing the war in Afghanistan;on the US government's Facebook page its relationship status with them is "it's complicated".

They hid Osama bin Laden from us for a decade, armed and bankrolled the Taliban as they fought against us, and suck China's dick, all while we were giving them fighter jets and billions of dollars a year in foreign aid.

I hope India nukes them.
