The 6.5 Swedish was designed for rifles made in the late 19th century.

I own three rifles in this caliber, and although it is extremely accurate at 100-200 yds., it drops off quickly after that.

For longer distance shooting, I fall back on my .308.

I was going to say .30-06. But also wasnt6 the 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser a very well respected round? Accuracy? Enough power etc.

I sorta "made my bed" with rifle cartridges years ago. 5.56/.308/50BMG with .458SOCOM as a wild card. I have so many 308 components it makes no sense to changes horses at this stage of the race. Its a fine cartridge.

50BMG... oy.   That'll shut up the 6.5CM fans real quick.  Shit, that'll shut up the 7mm/300 Belted LoudBoomer dude's even quicker!

Was just curious as I have been perusing other rounds for another AR build.

Hit me with suggestions?

When I was shooting High Power, the range master once said, You will notice that when a new guy shows up he has a rifle and ammo then after some time he begins acquiring equipment like a spotting scope, a stool, a mat and on and on but then as he grows older you will notice the equipment begins to disappear. One other point I will make do you remember Molly plated bullets?

Where I am going is almost all of the latest and greatest thing aren't , generally if one sticks with the tried and true one does much better.

All joking aside, you should go with the 7.6 Creedmoor.

I want PKM.

I'll make do with the DPM and UK-59. Hopefully add a PKM to the mix some day.
