I googled images for "How to wear men turtleneck sweater"
Not all results were ghey. I think it can be done. Generally, it is a bunch of B.S. when folks say a something is out of style. A lot of surprising 'looks' can be pulled off if you do it right and have confidence. |

More power to you OP..
I was given a turtle neck as a gift one year, lasted less than minute..they give me a very claustrophobic feeling. |

Two colors of turtleneck...
Black.... and a slightly darker black. |

JFC this is the most ridiculous clothing thread I have ever seen on arfcom.
OP- you seem like the “Fedoras are for men, not boys” type. Not a compliment. If you want to dress like 1990 wannabe Eurotrash- go for it. Make sure you display some gold necklaces outside the turtleneck. Google a picture of Bush Sr in casual clothes. Copy that. Case closed. |

Not a turtleneck. But a high-quality, Steve Jobs-type crewneck can be nice.

Ask your wife about Michael Kors. My wife used to watch Project Runway and I asked her why the one guy always had on the same clothes, jeans, turtle neck, and sports coat. Apparently, that is all he wears at all times.

If you are wearing a plain color turtleneck, you should have patterned pants. Like plaid.
You don't want to be plain on top and bottom, especially with a turtleneck. If you wear a white turtleneck, and plaid pants, you can also wear a white belt and shoes. |

I just found a mock neck under armor shirt in my closet. It looks dressy enough under my sport coat. Probably going to just go with that

Crew or vee neck. Turtlenecks are hot and uncomfortable.
But a button down shirt is better. Unless your name is Chip or Biff, or Junior. Then you should wear an alligator Izod and flip the collar. |

Do you have a merino wool sweater of any sort? Are your slacks wool? OP, how old are you? |

That is perfect attire for your event. Wear a pair of khakis and desert boots to complete the look
