You're a white shoe lawyer type, why not wear one of those Panama hats? It would go well with your seersucker. Won't do shit ............... brim is too narrow. |

I am very sensitive to the sun, and bright light in general. I like Tilly hats. They are all pretty much fedoras with large brims. Tilly.

Quoted: Brim is too narrow for effective sun protection. Fedora is a fashion statement, not a working hat. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: What, no love for the fedora? Brim is too narrow for effective sun protection. Fedora is a fashion statement, not a working hat. Mine has a pretty decent brim. Certainly works better than a boonie. Been wearing them for cover from rain and sun for over a decade and it works great. Maybe you should try a REAL fedora and not those hipster fedora-wannabes. ETA - here ya go, the one I wore at an outdoor job in just about any weather, my now badly sun faded Dorfman Pacific fedora. Seems like REI has the best link, DP's website is kinda sucky. http://www.rei.com/product/631470/dorfman-pacific-all-season-crushable-hat |

Anyone know what kind of hat Hank Jr. wore in the latest direct tv special? Short brim, with a camo hat.

Aimless, being a bigshot New York lawyer you can always fall back on the profession when you feature classic men's hats (when in professional attire). It's not something just anybody can do, especially in this day of increasingly casual wear in the business environment.
Certain professions will always have the ability to justify "dressing up", merely by being a member of that profession. As an attorney, nobody will question you when you show up in a suit -- whereas other "professionals" may not find it so easy to do the same, and can be accused of being dandies or fops (right or wrong) just for dressing up a bit. Same goes for business headgear. I'll relay a story that the former managing partner of my law firm told me many years ago, around the time lawyers were introducing the concept of "casual Fridays". I wasn't sure of the timeframe, but based on his relatively advanced age at the time, I'd guess it was in the 1960s. Anyway, he was a young associate and had gotten into the elevator with a partner. The partner looked at him and noticed that he wasn't wearing a hat. The partner said to him, "young man, a Philadelphia attorney wears a [straw?] hat during the summer and a [felt?] hat at all other times. Go home and don't come back until you're properly dressed." He had to go home and get the proper hat before he could go back to the office. Point is, there are certain professions that can get away with wearing certain types of hats, even in today's casual environment. If you want to rock a fedora or trilby, I say go for it. :) Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Who cares what other people think, I gave that up at about ten years of age embrace it as you get older. I remember both my Grandad's became more fun as they quit caring what others thought about them. Then again I am hermit that lives in the middle of nowhere an has little contact to the outside world and I wear what I want with little regards for other people's opinions.

Were I going to start wearing a hat of that style, I myself would probably choose a Filson of one variety or another. I might get one regardless.
