I'd go with the Walther P5. It doesnt have a shit trigger like the HK and Sig. HK P7 shit trigger? Really? Im'ma give Miami a pass on that one... he's still in a dead Castro hangover. |

Neither. View Quote Yeah, cause everyone shot with a 9mm up til modern jhp's rubbed dirt on it and rocked on while those shot with 45 ball was DRT. I wished I remembered the story/book name, but I remember reading about an Italian Mil guy in WWII shot an ungodly number of times from a Thompson SMG who played dead and crawled an ungodly distance to help and ended up living a long life. |

I own all three. Id be fine with any of them. But if you made me pick...the P6.

You'll use whatever you're issued. If you were working with the Federal agencies it most likely would have been the P7. The majority of the State police departments issued the P6, a few using the P7 and even fewer the P5. Almost no European police agencies allow their officers any discretion on what they carry. There were German police Hi-Powers back in the 60's but probably not on the scale of P5/6/7.
I vote P2 pistol, which were SIG P210s... |

Am I the only person that was unimpressed with the P6? I owned one, thing jammed with JHPs, bad trigger, and was giant for its capacity.

The names to these guns are so forgettable. P5, P6, P7...all made by different companies. At least with most guns, they have a name so you aren't just thinking "smallish, possibly black, non-descript European pistol"...

In uniform? I'll take a P6 - I prefer the P7M8, but the heel mag release of the P7 will get me killed.
Undercover? BHPs were used by friend and foe alike. |

Wow, I didnt realize the Sig design had went largely unchanged for that long. Either way, Sig.

H&K VP70 somehow convince them to allow it, 18 rounds.

I picked P7 but if it were 1980, I would still be a kid. I don't think I could "operate" to hunt down Soviet or East German spies.
If I were able to go back in time, that would be a different story. But even then, I would just go to the US, bet on sporting events that I know the outcome and live off that cash. Get a Ferrari 308 GTS like Magnum P.I. |

https://media.giphy.com/media/U1XhGr8CWqvVC/giphy-facebook_s.jpg I own a P5 and a P7. I had a P6 and sold it because of its shit trigger. P7 is too finicky. It is a damn shame the P5 was discontinued (and was never made as a high cap for that matter). I think the poll would be different if more people had exposure to the P5. The P5 is a great gun. P6 for a duty gun, PPK in .32 for putting one behind the ear of any DDR/USSR agents found. No reason to wake the neighbors when disposing of vermin.

What was it called? View Quote Browning imported Sigs with European butt magazine releases. The .45 at least was called the Browning BDA 45. I don't recall ever running into a 9mm version, but they probably imported them. Browning sort of opened the market for Sig to do their own thing in the US. |

Do I need to buy one of the $200 makarovs now? Let me know |

FMJ and the semi auto friendly bullets of that time were less than stellar.
S&W 4" 19, for me with 125 Federal JHPs. 1911 with SWCs would work fine, too. |
