Shorten it a foot.

2-door with 4 seats.

And redesign the fucking Cherokee KL abomination while you're at it.

You suck, Fiat.

Unfortunately (at least for me) that's not a two door Gladiator, that's a Wrangler (JLU) pick up. So 3,000lb towing capacity, lower payload, and less robust axles. I really wish they would do a true 2 door Gladiator, but I think this is as close at we will get.

I would buy one also but you probably could build a rubicon to look like that other than the bed .

That would take some fabrication but that thing is built off road use  really .
Winch installed front and rear steel bumpers

Even if they wanted to mass market it it would be pushing I bet $70,000

Many people seem to have no idea how much Jeep dealers are willing to deal off msrp.  May be difficult for a bit but that won't last and deals will come.

The well equipped medium trims will be buyable under 40 just like other midsize trucks.

Yes, they are all too expensive.  But the pricing is competitive.

Welcome to GD where we cherry pick numbers and compare the highest trim of one truck against a base model stripper to complain about how expensive checking every option box is.

Except that's not at all what's actually going on.
The reality is that the "Soccer mom" demographic is seriously underrepresented among Wrangler purchasers compared to the vast majority of other categories. Most Wranglers are bought by and driven by men. Four doors even have a larger percentage of male buyers than two doors.
They're not being bought by the person driving kids around day to day.

You probably won't see the dealing until 2021

It will be a limited supply for 2020 so they won't deal much.

Women are a minority of buyers and drivers of Wranglers. The market research done by Jeep and FCA has shown this in regards to new purchasers, as well as third party research covering new and used.

It's a common misconception, I always thought that two doors were almost exclusively bought by women. Turns out that while two doors have a higher percentage of women drivers and owners than four doors, men are the largest group in both categories.

I chalk it up to paying more attention to the women.

I'm the first one to call folks out on this, but in my case, a two door Gladiator with essentially unchanged capabilities would be in my driveway within a couple years of release.

I absolutely agree that most people calling for two doors (or stripped down models, rubber floor mats, etc) are full of shit, but this is the one case where I think a small number of them would actually buy it. Of course the problem is that everyone has a qualifier.

I think of the Rubicon truck like a Jeep version of a Hillux and I dont think the price is out of line considering how capable and equipped it is.

I still think they'll sell a fuck ton of base models though, since the 285hp engine and 4x4 are standard.

Been seeing them around Toledo. I like em a lot. The 1st one I saw was the twin to that silver one in the OP. My brother-in-law works at North assembly as a supervisor. They will practically pay him to take a RAM but no discounts on a Wrangler.

A half-ton truck with a V8 or 3.5EB is plenty for towing a medium size boat, trailer full of ATVs or sleds, skid steer, etc.  The V6 pentastar is not adequate for any of those.  If Jeep gave their truck a V8, it would be a lot more useful.

What exactly is "serious towing"? If you're buying it to use it, the intended purpose matters more than some vague notion of "serious towing."
