The good news is that it is perfectly legal for a president to deploy troops to protect the border. Any judge who doesn't recognize that a force of 80% healthy males between the ages of 17 - 40 bearing foreign flags and burning the US flag is an invasion force needs to be horsewhipped and then shot. The bad news is that the invasion force is 20% women and children, and CNN would love nothing more than to show footage of those women and children (who will be the vanguard when the borders is reached) being shot by US troops. My solution is water cannon filled with Israeli Skunk Juice. When the mob can't stand the stench of each other, or even of their own clothing, they tend to disburse quickly. |

I am pretty sure he can set up an exclusion zone of 1 mile from the border, and have the military control it. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

According to our own stupid ass laws the US cannot use the Armed forces to do this. Posse Comitatus and Martial Law The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 prohibits the use of U.S. military forces to perform the tasks of civilian law enforcement such as arrest, apprehension, interrogation, and detention unless explicitly authorized by Congress. The Posse Comitatus Act, signed into law by President Rutherford B. Hayes on June 18, 1878, limits the power of the federal government in the use of federal military personnel to enforce U.S. laws and domestic policies within the borders of the United States. The law was passed as an amendment to an army appropriation bill following the end of Reconstruction and was subsequently amended in 1956 and 1981. As originally enacted in 1878, the Posse Comitatus Act applied only to the U.S. Army but was amended in 1956 to include the Air Force. In addition, the Department of the Navy has enacted regulations intended to apply the Posse Comitatus Act restrictions to the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. The Posse Comitatus Act does not apply to the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard when acting in a law enforcement capacity within its own state when ordered by the governor of that state or in an adjacent state if invited by that state's governor. Operating under the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Coast Guard is not covered by the Posse Comitatus Act. While the Coast Guard is an "armed service," it also has both a maritime law enforcement mission and a federal regulatory agency mission. The Posse Comitatus Act was originally enacted due to the feeling of many members of Congress at the time that President Abraham Lincoln had exceeded his authority during the Civil War by suspending habeas corpus and creating military courts with jurisdiction over civilians. It should be noted that the Posse Comitatus Act greatly limits, but does not eliminate the power of the President of the United States to declare "martial law," the assumption of all civilian police powers by the military. The president, under his or her constitutional powers to put down insurrection, rebellion, or invasion, may declare martial law when local law enforcement and court systems have ceased to function. For example, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, President Roosevelt declared martial law in Hawaii at the request of the territorial governor. So does Trump have something up his sleeve, or is he just bloviating to get through the mid term elections? |

Quoted: I doubt there will be any cross border incursion, as you said we're talking about unarmed civilians, a lot of them I grant you but unarmed civilians none the less. hard to justify a cross border incursion by US military forces based just upon that. View Quote |

Why would this be a law enforcement issue? The goal is to protect the border, not allow them in and subsequently have the police deal with them.

Quoted: Making them believe there will be a cross border incursion is just part of the game you play, if the President warns the Mexican President that the possibility exist it may happen and making the statement changes the direction of the diplomacy involved. View Quote |

Quoted: except a cross border incursion or even the threat of one doesn't make Mexico look like the asshole in the room, it makes the US look like the asshole in the room. also the notion that congress is going to sign off on such a military action is laughable at best. especially with the midterms days away. hell even after the midterms congress signing off on such an action is a very long shot at best View Quote Congress does not have to sign off, the leaders of both houses would be informed, but he does have select powers that don't need to be approved that allows him to move troops and that has the ability to last a set amount of time in instances of emergency. By the way, Mexico already looks like the assholes in this one, because they have allowed this on their soil and did not do much to prevent the incursion to a neighboring ally |

Quoted: Trump can sign a declaration of Martial Law that covers the border areas and put troops on the ground to prevent entry across our border of illegal aliens, all it has to be is declared as a emergency situation pivotal to our National Security and our troops can be deployed in country to protect the border. Just because he declares martial law, does not mean it covers the whole country, it can be selective in particular zones that have already been defined, long before I was in the service and spent my years at the Pentagon. There are several scenarios that cover exclusionary zones around this country to prevent incidents such as is occurring right now. They are updated frequently to adapt to the ever changing situations that happen. Congress does not have to sign off, the leaders of both houses would be informed, but he does have select powers that don't need to be approved that allows him to move troops and that has the ability to last a set amount of time in times of emergency. Move the 3rd Infantry Division to the border, they did a fine job in Adhamiya in 2007.
If any illegals are allowed in they should be shipped to Northern Alaska and housed in basic tent camps there with no interweb access until they are deported. If they know they will be shipped to Northern Alaska with winter coming, there is less incentive for them to come. |

I've said it in other threads, and I'll say it in this one: They must be stopped at all costs. If you don't stop this one it will take 20 Army divisions to stop the next one.

Posse Comitatus would not apply to repelling foreign invaders regardless of whether not hostilities have been declared against the country from which the invaders are coming from.
Frankly I think that Trump should declare that a state of war exists between the US and Mexico but that no action shall be taken against Mexico except at the border. Any person attempting to cross the border shall be considered an insurgent in time of war which means we can shoot them. This engineered crisis has to be nipped in the bud, HARD. This is really a make-or-break power play and Trump must break the backs of our enemies the socialists who are behind this. |

There's already confirmations of gang members and random people from the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Do they need to wear brightly colored t-shirts stating they're enemies before we can react? Pussyfooting about the border is how millions have gotten in for years. Do you suggest we just let in another 7000 in one swoop? Why not right? |

Trick is to stop the invaders short of the border, in order to avoid US-directed/blamed bloodshed. This needs to be stopped the Israeli way:
1) Infiltrate the caravan, get at least one person on each bus 2) Send a commando force to intercept the caravan in between towns on open road. 3) With the help of infiltrators arrest the bus drivers and the leaders 4) Disable buses and any other transport vehicles. Have people get out and set the vehicles on fire 5) Offer people $200 gift cards to go back as a gesture of goodwill |

I know folks who have a ranch on the Rio Grande, had it for 80 years in the family. They have a wonderful family with cute kids and this is bad ju ju. They are nice people but fed up with all of the American tears for the caravan as they are in fear for their children and it all is at stake. They needs some prayers as do the rest of the Americans who live on this side of the border. The Border Patrol is going to be busy. . This crisis is the perfect weapon for the evil lefties.
