"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result."
I'll go out on a limb here, and speculate that maybe some folks don't want McCarthy to be Speaker. |

Boebert says Trump should tell McCarthy to withdraw from Speaker’s race
Boebert, a staunch supporter of Trump, made the comment while nominating Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) to be Speaker during the fifth ballot. “Praise the work and the leadership of Byron Donalds. So let’s work together, let’s stop with the campaign smears and tactics to get people to turn against us. Even having my favorite president call us and tell us we need to knock this off — I think it actually needs to be reversed,” Boebert said on the House floor. “The president needs to tell Kevin McCarthy that sir you do not have the votes and it’s time to withdraw,” she added, prompting a cacophony of boos and cheers in the chamber. View Quote Boebert rebukes Trump, then helps hand McCarthy another loss For the fifth time in two days, California Rep. Kevin McCarthy lost a vote to become speaker of the House of Representatives. As with the fourth vote, a large group of GOP detractors cast their votes for Florida Rep. Byron Donalds. In a speech nominating Donalds, Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert said that her "favorite president" (former President Donald Trump) had called her and other members asking them to "knock this off." "I actually think it needs to be reversed: the president needs to tell Kevin McCarthy, 'Sir you do not have the votes and it's time to withdraw," Boebert said. After Boebert's remarks, several members on the House floor could be heard expressing surprise that Boebert publicly revealed a private conversation with Trump and proceeded to not do his bidding. As the fifth vote was underway, Colorado Rep. Ken Buck, who voted for McCarthy all five times, told CNN it's time for McCarthy to consider dropping out and supporting Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise, the No. 2 House Republican. View Quote |

I’ll say this for McCarthy, he’s a true Democrat. No matter how many times the vote tallies against him, he just keeps on going for the recount until that magic box of votes comes in.

Imma go out on a limb here and say that McCarthy fucked over someone(s) in the Freedom Caucus, and this is their way of handling it.

If this is SOO BAD for the country - why don't good patriotic, conservative Dems vote for McCarthy?
Oh yeah - there aren't any left! |

This haa turned into a comedy show at this point. Mccarthy feels "entitled", Jordon doesnt want it and Donalds cannot get enough votes. Seriously wtf?? And one jackass simply voted "present"....wtf is that even permissable???

Notice no one is complaining Dems are voting for Hakeem Jeffries and he can't win either.
They should nominate Webster of Florida. He was speaker of the Florida Senate after over 100 years plus of Dem control. |

It would be great if they didn't have a speaker for the next 2 years.

This dipshit isn't even speaking/appealing to the American people for the job; he's just bartering/badgering in the back room(s).
Isn't he the one living with that weird polster dude? I wonder what the public polls say about this?? It can't be good for him after that stupid spending bill went thru McConnell and Co. |

Quoted: The house can spare days, weeks and months even, haggling over this. They only convene ~ 150 days of the year, and many of those the don't do jack anyway. That aside, bottlenecked government is best government. We really need a constitutionally-mandated part-time Congress (with pay and benefits to match). IIRC, the record number of votes to choose a Speaker of the House is 133. Historically, at least 9 votes have been required if it no one was chosen by the third vote. |

View Quote The story is they went to him last summer, and said. 'Let's clean up some of these bullshit rules.' He said, Fuck Off, my majority will be so big I can run the Speakership under Nancy's Rules, which pretty much is I do what I wanna do. His Red Wave didn't materialize, and now the conservatives want all their demands, and are pretty much done with KM. |

We lost Rush! We have no one, but ourselves. There are a lot of new leaders, not all of them are good, but there is new MAGA blood. Many born after Ronaldus was even President. You can't release the dragon and then hope to control the dragon. Remember McCain was a so-called "foot soldier in the Reagan army!" We have been fooled so many times before ... |

Quoted: We have a representative government, the people in office represent the people on the street. Look at your neighbors, friends, and loved ones. They're part of the problem. View Quote The problem is that the number of people being represented by each member has more than tripled since 1900 or so. Now it's one Rep for every 750K, IIRC, so one has a lot of neighbors far, far away. |
