OK, need a meme warrior to make one for us.
First panel:

Title  "The Last Crusade".   Crusader knight shouting "Retake Jerusalem!"
Second panel: Title: "The Next Crusade".  Soldier in modern battle-rattle shouting "Retake Stockholm!" Or London. Or Dearborn.Stockholm would be better.

It had all just gone crazy.  Nickel and dime-ing me to death.  Maybe it was Karma.  But realizing that when you're on your own and it's all too much, sometimes (in self defense) you just have to be good to yourself to be alive again.  I guess you could say nothing comes close to getting out of harms way.

many of the details in memes are fantastic
much of the rest is anachronistic
which doesn't take away from the power of the meme

I need a great helm.

And some mail.

A surcoat, too.

Heater shield or kite shield, while I'm at it, and an XI-XII century arming sword.

i hope you're in good shape because a set of mail (steel) is heavier than most loaded out plate carriers lol.
and that isn't even considering the other stuff you  listed off.

most  cosplay / larp guys just wear aluminum which is  super light

Interestingly enough, a proper set of plate is lighter than mail since the weight is spread far more evenly on your body, whereas mail has a tendency to just hang like dead weight, unless tightened around the waist with a belt.

Can anyone recommend a book or 12 on the crusades, I need a few to brush up on my history.

This one looks decent
It is.  I have read that one and also found this one from Hilaire Belloc (first published in 1937) which covers the first crusade very interesting.

how is titanium to work with?
does it bend to make rings?
do you have to weld/rivet the rings individually or will they stay butted together?

I have some plate and mail - what was said above about well-fitting plate "feeling" lighter is consistent with my experience.

Somewhat off-topic:
With the Christmas season upon us, I see myriad versions of angelic tree-toppers, and it struck me that a tree-topper depicting a Templar, Hospitaller, or (especially) a Polish Winged Hussar would be a very nifty thing to have. I have not been able to find one; any ideas?

make one?

or try searching Walmart.com for "super knights action figure" for 8" knights - no winged hussar - but you could improvise adapt and overcome to make one

or try websearches with appropriate terms... you might find things like this:
