Picked up this Henry and Winchester up today from a older guy up the street. Both are chambered in 45 colt and are in great condition. I'll be taking them out the range after work tomorrow.

Let's see some lever guns

Consider this a tag as I've been low key dreaming about a blued .357 with a threaded barrel and a red dot.

I have a brass Big Boy too, also in .44mag but I shoot the BBX a lot more since it’s threaded

I want a Marlin guide gun in .45-70

Henry large loop .357, with a Primary Arms Slx 1 RDS on a XS systems rail w/irons, a cheap stock pouch I got from Amazon, and a nylon sling.

A shame .357 ammo is so expensive, because this thing is a LOT of fun to shoot.
On the plus side, it's pretty accurate with PMC ammo, which is cheaper than most.

Two Marlin 45/70s and two Winchester 45LCs with their companions.

At one time I had about 10 Winchesters in various calibers.  You could buy them at Big 5 Sporting Goods in different calibers and different barrel lengths for $299.99.

I got a real fancy model 94 I inherited chambered in 348 Winchester. I'd love to shoot it if I could find any ammo. I'll post some pictures in a few minutes.

Your not kidding. Today I bought 200 rounds for my python and it was 35 bucks a box. I'll reload them but I needed the brass so I figured I'd buy some factory stuff to start with.

Big boy X .357. Got a Midwest Industries stock on it which is great to get my eye up to the red dot without having to change to a funky chin weld.

Now that I’ve found ammo that it likes, I’m able to shoot 2” groups at 100.

Sorry it's a model 71 in .348 its number 39 out of 3000 made between 86-87. Not really my style but it is really pretty.  I can't find ammo for it I really need to buy some components to load some.

$800 for a Henry 45-70, even if it doesn't load via side gate, it still a good buy.

I can find it online, however I can't just simply order it. I need to go through a FFL living in California. I can't find it local and I'm simply not motivated enough to go through the hassle. I actually have brass and bullets for it. I got that with the gun when my grandfather died I just need to purchase the dies. He purchased the gun at 78 ( it was NOS in the box) and his health declined rapidly after so as far as I know it hasn't been fired in 38 years. That's assuming the factory fired it. I'd actually like to sell it I just can't bring myself to that point. I'd feel guilty.

He was and I agree. I actually inherited all of his guns. I was the only family member intrested in shooting so he left them all to me. Hell, last time we went shooting was 15 years ago and I'll bet I still have more accumulated range time with him over anyone else. There are only 3 that are really special to me. I just need to get over the guilt of selling them. Your $.02 is appreciated and enjoy keeping the memories of your grandpa alive by using those tools.

Completely functional.

Little rust around the front sight and on the sling mounts and lever.

Bore not bad for it's age and the type of ammo used.

Not museum quality, but a nice example.

Curiosity killed the cat, what were the 3 guns you really remember, you dont have to tell the story. My dad was not a handgun guy, but he wasn't against them. So he had 3 guns a nylon 66 , a browning sweet 16, and a model 10 Smith. I learned to shoot on all 3. When I was 15, 30 years ago he loaned me the last $20 to buy a skinny barreled ruger mk2 from a friends dad. We didn't shoot up schools then. I still have all 4

@Hobs98

I have his 1911, he lived in Michigan and enlisted in the Marines during Korea. When he got back he was stationed in San Diego and decided to say in California. He mail ordered the pistol for 30 bucks + or - I can't remember the exact number. Any way this was the first pistol I ever shot. He kept it in his nightstand 90% of the time but carried it every camping/ fishing trip I can remember. I was 10 when he let me shoot it the first time while camping.

I also have his weatherby mkv in 300 weatherby magnum. My grandma bought him this rifle in the late 60's. My mom remembers going with her her to get it at the weatherby store in LA. He really loved this rifle. I remember shooting it and abruptly hating the recoil. When my grandma bought it she also bought 300 rounds of ammo. He shot most of it then reloaded it I still have some of the original ammo from the original purchase.

The 3rd would he his M1, he mail ordered it a year or 2 after his 1911.  I really love shooting this. He tought me the fundamentals of reloading for this rifle on his single stage press in his garage. I still use his favorite load for it.

I'll add a 4th to the list. I didn't think about it because I've had the rifle for almost 16 years. It's his Winchester model 70 in 30-06. He bought it in 1948, he said he took a bus to town and bought the rifle. They wrapped it up in newspaper and he took it home. He took his first deer with it and was the only thing he brought back from Michigan after he moved to California. I don't have a picture of the rifle by itself but this was taken in 08 the last time we went shooting. I found this picture a few years ago on photobucket and PAspeedmaster and another good guy ( can't remember his name) cleaned it up for me. He's shooting the model 70.
