Really serves as a testament to their target demographic. I mean, your money and all, but why?

Because they're not sport bikes? You don't ride them at 180+ and attack corners like a rice grinder.

Harley Low Speed Death Wobbles
CHP Test Riders Experience the Harley-Wobble / Harley-Weave |
|
Very interesting. The speed wobble also happens with bicycles at high speeds.
It has to do with weight distribution setting up a harmonic that is amplified by the frame geometry. The thing is it only happens rarely and usually not even on the same road at the same speed. For bicycles, you should put your knees against the top tube and slow down gently using the rear brake. The wobble may continue at a much lower speed than when it started. |

2015 Ultra Limited CVO Front End Low Speed Road Wobble
"I took my new CVO Ultra Limited back to shop with because of a low speed front wheel road wobble. They stated it was ok. Scenereo is riding at low speed and felt a vibration around 30 Mph. This happened b4 with me on another mtcy and I noticed the vibration more so with my hands barely off the grips. Check the front wheel air and found it to be around 31-32#'s. Next morn I added air to 36#'s. I rode the bike and the same scenereo happens. I increase my speed up to say around 40mph and I let it coast back down to 30 with hands barely odd the grips and the wobble will smooth out at around 28/26 mph. Why does the dealership say there is no wobble when there is a wobble. Tech say my hands are not suppose to be off the handlebars. Hell I just trying to figure what's going on by taking my hands barely off the bars. Safety is the main concern. The dealership is putting me in a catch 22 situation saying probably should expect that Harley says nothing is wrong with the bike since my hands are off the bars. I found the vibration with my hands on the bars and off the bars it's a bad wobble that smoothed out at 28-26. Any ideas what to do next. Higher speeds there are no vibration(s). WHAT TO DO NEXT???????" "I picked up my 15 Ultra Limited CVO that has a low speed 30mph front wheel road wobble and the dealer tech stated they could not duplicate the wobble. Funny the wobble is still there and I am told that the mtcy is safe according to the owner of the shop. This is really hard to swallow, a mtcy of this caliber and cost can an have a 30 mph safe road wobble. Wow." "I just picked up my new 2015 Ultra Limited yesterday from Brighton HD. I have the same slight wobble right around 30 mph. I'll be making a service appointment today." |

It doesn't happen to just Harleys. Several Police Departments stopped using Hondas and went o Yamaha due to high speed wobbles.

Harley Hating starting early this week, loud pipes save lives!

The term we're looking for here is "head shake".
Harleys aren't the only bikes prone to the condition. Honda's GL1100 Gold Wing and ST1300 were noted for it. I've personally experienced the 'Wing getting stupid a number of times around 36-38MPH. Suspension settings and tire choices/condition affect this a LOT. |

Another reason I won't own a big twin.
I'll just stick to my girl bikes For the record opie, I could buy a small pile of these for $25k Attached File |

My Triumph Tiger 800 wobbles at about 90mph with cheap tires.
Good tires ,no issue |

There were two Harley hate threads going simultaneously only a couple days ago lol.

Pffft wobbles...
Harley falls off a cliff at the Dragon in N.C. |

Thread progression.
1) Harleys suck because of the death wobble. 2) You lie, maybe if you are driving at 180MPH. 3) Harley's have the same wobble at low speed and police departmentd documented on video. 4) All motorcycles have wobble problem. Leave Harley alone. 5) Not all motorcycles have the wobble problem. 6) A bike that costs $25K+ should not have this issue. 7) Go be poor somewhere else. |

A local Deputy recently stacked up his HONDA police motorcycle while traveling the speed limit on I10 due to this speed wobble. This is a known issue with the HONDA police motorcycles.
OP should change this to a HONDA thread because, as pointed out, Thursday is official Harley hate day. OP posted with a smug Prius driver grin. |

View Quote What a bunch of fucking faggots. Got scared and didn't even bother checking on the rider that they filmed going down. |

I got a speed wobble coming down a mountain road at around 30 mph on my road bicycle. Clamped onto the top tube and managed to slow without crashing. A bike mechanic noticed the bearing in the head tube had an indentation from riding straight and wanted to index on that defect. New bearing and raced solved my issue.

I have always found it interesting that most of the bikes known for death wobbles are also bikes in widespread use with law enforcement
Thought HD got this fixed by using aluminum instead of rubber somewhere in the swing arm |
