They overproduced a few years ago, and they are on their way to doing it again.
Unlike any other product, 100% of vehicles wil be sold eventually; but who's holding the money, in the mean time, while they are on the dealer lots, and at what point are they losing money rather than making it.
When you bail people out who are doing wrong, they are never going to learn.
If they always know they have a gov't funded parachute, there is no incentive for them to change a thing.
Still overpaid UAW line workers, and overpaid salaried "white shirts" at their air-conditioned desks at GM, all bought and paid for by President Obama's borrowing of money, adding to the national debt.

Good to hear a voice of reason from WI.

What Local do you belong to?

That's a false conundrum.

It's the unions who have fucked over the American Economy; what's good for the unions is NOT good for America.

The unions whose purpose is to wipeout competition,  are part and parcel of a false, parasitic, price controlling, economy and refusing to buy their products is the right thing to do.

Lots of UAW guys , like most of the Tradesmen I worked with, voted Republican in every election. How do you think Reagan carried the state back then? But the Republicans got the bright idea to make us the enemy, calling us thugs and commies. What did you expect these guys to do then?  Maybe you and your Party might gain some wisdom as you cry in the wilderness for the next four years or so, and think about trying to once again attract people with similar interests, instead of trying to make everything an "us versus them" situation.

Totally agree.

I very much would rather support the innocuous Japan, than the currently killing my country unions.

My truck was shipped over in a crate.

If enough people started doing this, and explaining why, companies would move to right to work states and the unions would wither on the vine. This could apply to lots of things beyond unions as well. And would be our most effective tool.

But, as with most things productive to those of us who love America, there are always forces who pretend to be on our side that undermine any effort that might fucking work.

Owned 8 vehicles in my young life. And purchased 4 vehicles with my wife (for her). My oldsmobile and Jeep were pieces of crap that had constant problems. The rest have been Infiniti, Honda and Toyota with the exception of a horrible VW purchase. The foreign cars/trucks have by far been the best investment. I drove and toyed with the idea of getting a Chevy right before the bailout. That cleared my wondering eye up real quick! I'll stick to my Toyotas and the unions can stick to sucking the Obama teat and building crap that breaks down all the time.

Funny thing is. My brother in law blasts me all the time for my vehicle purchases. In the last (I kid you not) 3 years the guy has bought a new Chevy truck (crapped out all the time), traded in for a new Ford (transmission problems and leaked oil), a Dodge Ram (has been in the shop more times than I can count) and lastly a Jeep Cherokee (looks great by the way but has been in the shop at least once for 6 of the 13 months he has owned it.)

I believe you got the cart before the horse.

The union bosses "Big Union" started overtly supporting Democrats over everything else...Often over the objections and/or best interests of their members (United Mine Workers Union bosses supporting Obama in 2008 is but one example).

Note that I said "Union BOSSES, often over the objections and/or best interests of their members".

So, the attack really should have been against union bosses.  Unfortunately, that is impossible for an outsider to do, so the only weapon/recourse people outside the union have is to boycott the product and/or verbally attack the union and it's members.

Until now, the majority of the people just cast aspersions towards the members.  Now, based upon what I'm see here, they have seen that the only way to break the power of unions in this country is to boycott the products and put the union members out of jobs.

It is really too bad because if it weren't for the politics of the "Union bosses", I would have little to nothing against unions.

Here's a thought for you:  If Democrats were truly for the working man, they would not be FOR amnesty for illegals and FOR large amounts of legal immigration...Both create excess labor in this country and cause your labor rates to fall.

Exactly.

Union bosses are the field generals of the Free Shit Army.

Collective Bargaining is just a sanitized word for extortion.
- wants overtime pay to starts after 8 hrs of work in a day, even if you only work 1 day a week.....or we strike.
- wants minimum of 3 break periods during the day.....or we strike.
- requires 4 workers to be assigned to a job even if it only requires one.....or we strike.
- wants ALL weekends off ...or we strike
- wants double time and a half for every freakin' holiday including groundhog day....or we strike.
- wants full medical, dental, fully funded 401k , car/truck/bassboat ins ....or we strike.
- etc etc etc

Your "leaders" have done you no good. Your union dues have been used against you. They live like kings while you and your family starve to death on strike pay.

And you wonder why the public won't buy your products when the company has to raise the price so damn high to cover the cost of your free shit.

You wonder why companies  say "fuck this noise" and move out-of -country to lower costs to stay competitive because your union bosses won't budge an inch on giving up your free shit.

You wonder why the customers never come back to the dealership garage for service after the warranty runs out,...because they don't want to be gouged paying for work AND your free shit.

When your Union Bosses say they are gonna "Stick it to the Man".....just remember, that Man is you.

I make a living in the automotive market. We sell automation equipment. When plants retool it's pretty lucrative. MRO business keeps the lights on. GM, Ford, and Chrysler buy almost all local engneering and products. The foriegn plants buy MUCH less from outfits like ours....they get thier "stuff" from thier homeland(s). I buy Big 3 vehicles because it's where I make my money.

All of that said, the UAW has fucked this industry up big time. I have no sympathy for them negotiating themselves out of a job.But keep in mind, they ALWAYS voted for the Democrats. It wasn't the bailouts.

I'm in michigan.. surrounded by it.... these folks live in a bubble. They live in this huge fanatasy world where they believe their mostly mundane unskilled labor is worth $50+K a year, plus another $50 in benefits...

We had a prop on the ballot to give the unions even more power, and thank god, it was defeated.

The only real way to make these folks realize what they've supported, is to make their plants close. Come to flint michigan.. and you'll see what a former UAW town looks like. One plant left.. GM trucks.

Close their plants,  even then.. they'll blame everyone but themselves. Just like the dem mantra... its always someone else's fault.

The days of american pride in american made vehicles is over.... if its a union shop, I dont spend money there. Period. I might as well be buying a Lada during the cold war.

We bought Kia's. Made in tennessee by americans... non union.
