LOL
Marine Brig. Gen. A.T. Williamson, director of Marine Corps manpower plans and policy division, echoed Nowell's comments, noting that removing photos may have disadvantaged the board's ability to promote diversity in the top ranks. The Corps eliminated required photographs from the promotion process in September 2020 and in June extended that policy to most tattoo photos, which the Corps has required since 2015. Williamson said the Corps is continuing to collect data from the most recent board season, but early indicators show that eliminating the photograph requirement has decreased diversity in the promotion system. They remove the photo because they assume the promotion boards are racist and making recommendations based on race.
They prove non white candidates are objectively less qualified... |

“It’s a meritocracy, we’re only going to pick the best of the best, but we’re very clear with our language ...that we want them to consider diversity across all areas. Right?” Nowell said. “And therefore ... I think having a clear picture on this just makes it easier. So actually our data show that it would support adding photos back in.”

Similar to standardized testing in college. They were originally instituted to take the social/"good old boys club" component out of college admissions, now they're racist because Asians and Jews dominate.

Well did THAT go the way you expected????
It warms the cockles of my cold black heart to know that all they did was prove that “diversity” quotas are just another form of racism |

Racial diversity can be the only diversity. Diversity of ideas and skill sets can only come from racial diversity. Interesting thought process.

So since I got out 35 years ago the officer corps is still a bunch of douche bags?
Whoodathinkit? |

Does this mean Marines will get spray tans before official photos are taken now?

So give each candidate a number. No name no photo, only quals.
Easy. May the best man win. |

Yep, Orwell, Rand, etc. knew how it was going to go, they just didn't get the timeline right. We were warned long ago. Attached File |

Amazingly, not all white people come from wealthy middle-class homes, and not all black people grew up in the ghetto. This somehow is beyond the grasp of those pushing diversity. |

Well there you go. No photos is racist. Wait photos are racist. Wait I’m confused now. How about we remove names next to see if that works. Just retired after 30 years of service and having sat on those promotions boards myself it it sweet justice to watch this play out and blow up in their face. Sec of the Navy got played.

LOL....So I guess they need to go with name clues now so the next Avondré that comes up is a shoe-in.

View Quote That isn't necessarily true Diverse doesn't mean it's relative to population anymore. If 20% of America was black, but they only saw 1 in 5 black people promoted, it would probably be called racist. |

What gets me is that either:
A. USMC leadership was somehow suckered into doing this without realizing the implications which means they are, all rhetoric aside, too stupid to be entrusted with leading Marines or B. Did this on purpose as some really high level trolling |

That's both hilarious AND makes me sad; how far the Marine Corps devolved from what it was when I joined in 1990 to what it came to when I retired last year.
And how far it has yet to go... |

Yep, and anyone who spent any time on AD in any branch of the service could have predicted both of these The funny thing is, the only thing the promotion boards actually use the photo for is a fat body check. They don't give a shit about the race of the candidate. |

View Quote In practice obviously, but not according to their own language and precepts. They've required a minority and a woman on Officer promotion boards for decades. Sounds like pandering to me. Especially when they can get a two-for-one and get a minority woman assigned to the board. |
