Denomination began with an emphasis on simplicity of life, modesty and the Holy Spirit.
Over 200 years tradition of this denomination apparently comes to an end. The United Methodist Church faces the possibility of a schism because of the vote. It's inevitable that people will leave the church because of how polarizing the issue is, according to congregants, clergy and experts. It's also possible entire congregations could leave the denomination. View Quote |

My wife's church is going this way. She's a lib so no problem for her. My daughter's pastor is going political. She's leaving hers.

I know of two churches local to me that split off over this. Sad part is that the UMC owns all land and buildings for all of the UMC churches, so the individual congregations that are dropping out of the association are having to buy the land and church buildings.

I left the UMC over 30 years ago because of their support of the Sandinistas in Nicaragua, and their "missions" in El Salvador that wound up supporting the bad guys. Also got flak for my enlisting. It may have just been my congregation, but I haven't look back.
Besides, I like beer and can't sing. |

Used to listen to an Irish pastor. He would always say you don’t know the answer because you don’t read your Bibles. True then true now.

I hate to say it, but church is a business. If they want more contributions they just allow everything and everybody to be more inclusive and not say boo. I am appalled by the way parishioners attend Church and how parents let their kids wear tramp clothes. (Would you let your 15 year old daughter walk up to take communion wearing a T-Shirt that says "Who says money can't buy you love?" ) Society has no standards, because we are now taught that standards are judgmental. So this is the shit you have. Enjoy.

What's that one fake church that LARPs as Christian - Episcopalian?

In October shotar complained about the Methodists, when it came to criticism about their liberal ways, he said that they got a pass.

The Local Methodist church had a great Pastor, active in the community, well loved. Well, they have a three year policy for pastors, so off he goes.
Ever since it has been SJW after SJW. Women pastors who are more concerned about vegetable gardens than gospel. This doesn't surprise me in the least. |

Quit the United Methodist Church when I was 13 years old, nearly 40 years ago. My mom used to get the READERS DIGEST and they used to have many articles about the Methodist Church supporting communist guerilla movements in Africa and Central and South America. I was being "confirmed" and told the Reverend that I never felt that I belonged to the church and how can they support godless communist? He told me that I didn't have to be there if I didn't want to, so I walked out and never returned to any religion.
I figured out what a scam religion is- man's perversion of GODS words and works to suit their own end, when I was a teenager. Surprised it took so many people this long to figure out what a satanic church the United Methodist are. |

The same thing happened to the Episcopal Church several years ago. The people who had built the individual parish buildings were literally locked out of them, because back then the thing to do was to give the deed to the central Church. The Church was not so accomodating then: they forbade the sale of the parish buildings back to the members. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Often denominations will take title of properties to help defend the local church against slip and fall lawsuits. Lawyers are less inclined to go up against an international organization with lawyers on retainer than a local congregation. These setups seem great when the denomination is in line with the beliefs of the local church. As we see here though, leftists take over the national organization and it becomes a nightmare. |

This is what you get when you pick and choose what to believe out of the bible.
It's not a buffet, people. |

Any church/denomination that advocates for Sin is lost and not part of the body of Christ.

Regardless of how the vote goes at a national level, there will be a split of some sort. I am on the board of a UMC. We have had people leave already simply because it's a topic of discussion, and we've also had people leave because such a decision hasn't already been made - that is, we've had people on both sides of the issue leave already.
In reality, it looks like the African and Asian churches will probably split off one way or another (they're the more conservative branch). There are an insane number of proposals they'll be voting on in a couple of weeks, one of which is to continue without making a decision. We honestly have no idea what will happen. |

Anyway, I predict this will follow the similar pattern: The split will happen, and the SJW wing will slowly die off. The conservative wing will be smaller but stronger. Benedict option and all that. Also, nothing good comes from women pastors. I think we have enough data to conclude that. ETA: On the plus side, this will probably get my buddy's wife to finally become Catholic. He went with his wife to her parents' church and was pretty sure he knew more about John Wesley's beliefs than the pastor did. |

We are seeing abandoment of scripture (rise of a false church).
1 Timothy 4:1-3 (KJV) 1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. |

I was raised in a UMC church. Unsurprising.
Town of 400 people, four churches in town. The methodist, a freewill baptist, southern baptist and small catholic (town founded by Irish). The methodist church has had female clergy for the last 10 years or more. Kind of surprising in the heart of the dongle of VA. The people I still know that attended that church are some of the most liberal in the whole county. |

My wife and I left the UMC because of this issue and a couple others.
She grew up in the Methodist church. I grew up Baptist. When we married I joined her church. A few years ago we saw what was happening and found a biblical church. Since we have left there have been some appointments at that UMC that were seen as "contoversial" at that church. |

The United Methodist church (and pretty much all other "united" denominations) have taken a leftist stance for quite some time now. They are all anit-gun, pro socialism, progressive organizations. Jesus would be turning over tables and trashing the places the way they've whored themselves out to the world.

I’m not rebuffing your sentiments all together, but the Catholic Church has been around a long time and is the single largest Christian denomination in the world. Our family left one of the largest UMC's in Oklahoma last year due to a liberal flameout from LGBTQwhatever along with the massive onslaught of female clergy and a new female Pastor.
the bible specifically says that a female cannot be head of a church. females are the back bone of the church in function but not in those roles. it got too bizarre. |
