Doesn't apply to cars which are considered the owners property. Same way the company can't go through your personal cell phone whenever they want.

Something like this needs to make it to the top.

Why can my gov employer who is bound to uphold the constitution tell me I can't have the same CCW rights on gov property (locked in car OK) as a Ohio citizen?

Good

Here in Florida, it's a Felony for your employer to ASK if you have a gun in your car.

But the car is parked on their property.  A logical extension of that argument would be if its on you personally and they can't search you at work.  Since you are your own personal property.

The contents of the car are generally considered to retain a "bubble" of personal property.  Your logical extension is just that... an extension, which doesn't apply.  The law is not extended in that way.

If the company offers secure access or its patrolled by a security guard the law does not apply.  If it concerns company enough they can take steps.

TX law in regards to firearms is that a companies 'premises' are its buildings only and not parking lots or drive ways

It's horrifically bad.

In a free country, an employer should be able to fire you for any reason they want.

I'd trade the right to fire me for having a gun if we would wipe out all protected classes.  Ain't gonna happen though.  So, MS values its Firearm-Americans and we are a semi-protected class.  Pay attention, we have more social justice coming down the pipe.

He was parked way away from campus to keep w/i the law.  IIRC he ran something like a half mile to retrieve his gun and get back to the school.  -J

Friday, end-of-day.

"Thank you for your service, Mr Smith. Your services are no longer required.

This additional check covers your severance pay. Have a good weekend."

Over the years, I found that 2 weeks pay solved a lot of 'issues', and arguments.

Same as when somebody gave 2 weeks notice, write a check, out the door, NOW.

IMHO YMMV

But, back on topic, a good decision, but possibly a bad precedent.

Camels nose under the tent flap, etc.

But whatever is in the parking lot, meh.

Around here, the guns in the parking lot is amazing. Show and tell at lunch time.

Your rights only extend as far as the next person.  If you are using private property to park your car, the employer can tell you to not have certain items in that parking lot.

An employer should be allowed to get rid of employees for any reason..just like they should be able to hire for ANY reason.

In the last few years we have gotten: Enhanced Endorsement, OC clearly defined, and "Purse Carry."  Coming down the pipe are: Permitless carry, Church protection, doing away with suppressor registration, and maybe a smack on some activist judges' peepees about redefining what a court room is.
