It's a couple years old- about 3.5 feet tall, nice and even pinnate compound leaf structure. Younger shoots/leaves have a red-purple tinge to them and the mature leaves are on average about 8" long.

Looking forward to seeing it transition from plain leaves to the ruffled or "horned" leaves as it gets even older.

It's not weed, but it was almost banned by los federales.

Another hint: It's native to Southeast Asia.

Dunno, but I use a handy free phone app called PlantNet.  You take a photo of the plant (leaf, flower, whatever), geolocation is noted and used in the database lookup, and voila!

Left out one detail, it's Rifat strain. I've obtained a couple other strains in the past, never could get them to last (pretty sure they arrived diseased.)

Rifat is pretty tough to kill, hardy as fuck.

Depends on the state. Kratom is legal on a federal level and in a lot of states, but the liberals are trying to ban it. Steals away too much business from the pharmaceutical companies.

Feds are trying to ban it because they are whores to the Pharmaceutical Industry who feels threatened by an herb that offers many health benefits over their product and cures addiction to them (there are still people who need opioid narcotics, and I believe they should have access to them.)

Still legal on the federal level for now...some states have banned it.

There is a huge following for Kratom and a lot of the pissed off Marijuana supporters have gotten behind it to ensure that the herb stays legal.

It's the only thing that allows me to work full time, to pick up my son and carry him, to function after a head on collision that destroyed my body. It's a Godsend.

I've fucked with opioid painkillers...I knew the road they were taking me down. I won't touch them again- Kratom gives me pain relief without addiction. I'm not knocking people who need opioid painkillers...but addiction runs in my genetic lineage and I can't take the risk.

I've chewed a couple of leaves from it, they were decent.

Red/Green/White depends on the stage of maturity. So far from what I've observed, the red vein leaves are early and immature...they turn green as they approach maturity...and then white as they reach the final stage of maturity. I think it has more to do with the stage of growth than the genetic diversity of the species- although there ARE some very well known variants like Red Thai and White Horned that seem to offer more potent mature leaves in relation to the vein color. I can think of a lot of ways that I'd rather die, but slowly turning in to a skeleton and going in to respiratory arrest on the same streets that I used to patrol is not one of them.

One of these days, I'm gonna have to get Jefe Jeff to toss and wash a couple grams with me- he'll see the light. I don't think there is a single person who experiences the reality of this herb that goes and talks trash about it- much less the people who get rescued by it during their brutal withdrawals from prescription narcotic pain meds. Withdrawal is when the temptation to go back to opioids is worst. I'm not gonna post my experience with prescription narcotics for obvious reasons- but it was probably the most brutal thing I have ever felt. An emotional black cloud over my soul- things crossed my mind that weren't good.

If you were calling opiates "a Godsend"...planting poppies in your yard, posting pics of your poppies online, raving about how awesome they are, trying to get strangers to try them...people might almost say you were addicted to them...hmmm

Go troll somewhere else, we love freedom in here and especially freedom from prescription opioid narcotics.

If opium poppies are your thing, have at it- be be advised there is a long sad history with their use. I dis-advise.

Think about how threatened the pharmaceutical industry feels by Kratom...and how many MILLIONS they have dumped in to buying off legislators, trying to get them to ban it. That should honestly tell any interested person what they need to know. They view it as the penultimate threat, way more dangerous to their product and income than Marijuana.
