Quoted: Quoted: Ok wait a min...wait. So *if* this was happening before, like during the Trump admin, why all of a sudden are we getting shoot-down happy? Assuming the pre Biden stories are BS (I think they are,) and this last one being discovered floating above Montana embarrassed the swamp so they're acting all big and bad now. Again, if the ChiComs were doing this for years prior why all of a sudden are we posturing like this. Yes this is rhetorical as in tongue and cheek. We all know why... Weird logic, shooting stuff down in our airspace is starting a war. Is there going to be a pivot from Russia not being a threat but rather China is to something else now? Interesting. |

So size of a small car. That removes balloon from the conversation, surely? Many car sized drones able to get up that high?

The Chinese sure are careless with where they fly those things.

The year 1983 gave us 99 Luftballons! So far, 2023 has given us one white balloon from Red China and one unidentified object of some sort from some unknown entity.

Did we ask the Colombians ? If they use submarines, maybe they use balloons.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but it seems like that balloon is capable of reporting it's position? I assume that would have been picked up and easily identified. Does a pico balloon look like a traditional balloon? Interesting info, thanks.

It was "cylindrical" and "silverish grey," ABC's Martha Raddatz was told.
ABC News Chief Global Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz first reported that when fighters were scrambled, the pilots did visuals, got images and said there was no sign the object had propulsion. It was described as "cylindrical and silver-ish gray" and seemed to be floating, a U.S. official said. Asked if was "balloon-like," the official said, "All I say is that it wasn't 'flying' with any sort of propulsion, so if that is 'balloon-like' well -- we just don't have enough at this point." |
