It had a viewfinder with mirrors in the back so you could look through a little red box aiming sight on top of the cannon. Nostalgia blast thread!
As a child of the 80s, I can remember most of these. As I walk around Walmart or search Amazon for toys for my kids, today's toys suck in comparison to what I had growing up. I guess it's all about the electronics now. Though my son got his first Transformer the other day and seems excited about it, so hopefully that's a new avenue. Memorable ones for me: - Transformers, mostly in the G1 toy line. I loved them. I'm not a huge fan of the Michael Bay movie toy lines, but they've done some really good ones in the War for Cybertron/Combiner Wars/Titans Return continuity. Purchased a lot of the "new" combiners since those were my favorites. Missed out on the latest Metroplex though. - G.I.Joe in the 3.75" line. I had a few of the early 80s ones, but mine were mostly late 80s/early 90s. The early/mid 80s ones with more realistic designs were far cooler, but they all were still tons of fun. - Sky Commanders. Had a bunch of these. Kinda neat, got those stupid strings knotted up all the time. - MASK. Those were awesome. I was outgrowing toys by this point, but I'll toss an honorable mention to the Exosquad series from 93-94. They had some pretty cool toys (the premise being wearable exoskeleton battle armor) but the cartoon itself was amazing. Some very mature plotlines. Got cancelled in all the network consolidations of the mid 90s where the networks wanted to own series lock, stock, and barrel. Truly a shame. |

My favorite toy growing up. Bought it on vacation with my entire yearly allowance savings. Mom didnt even care. Dad blew a fucking gasket when he found out how much it cost. He damn near made me box it back up and return it.

Wow, this thread brings back some memories, sky commanders things, robotix, construx... I have to add Digger Dan's. I loved those things, they had the best commercials, and they could pull some crazy loads being 4wd etc. The electric PTOs and low range gear boxes were awesome too.

I remember a lot of this stuff and had some of it.
I liked my Gobots. I liked my GI Joes. But what always stands out is the Rambo UZI, the black toy M-16s, and a neon green AK-47 that I painted the right colors. And some 1911 dart guns And we took them to school. And nobody cared. Literally nobody cared. |
