Quoted: @killingmachine123 My first was an 85 GLH-T, no a/c car. The second gear synchro was bad and it would grind a bit going into gear. The 525 was not the greatest trans. But it was my favorite car. It was unmodified and met an untimely end when I was rear ended while at a stop. My second was a 1987 GLHS. This car I modified enough that after the second time I bricked the trans I modified and installed the better A523 cable shifted trans. I was running 18psi with ported head, s60 cam, Stage 3 Garrett turbo, etc. I remember Lambros Race Engineering and FWD Performance as the companies that sold race parts. Quoted: I think we've discussed that before. Saying that the 525s are weak is being kind. View Quote I had 2 trans, A525, blow the differential in my Daytona. Apparently there was a roll pin in there that would work its way loose and destroy the case and lock the trans up. Over the several years that I owned mine I also bought 2 other complete Daytonas with blown trans that I got various parts off and then scrapped/sold. The first one I bought for the header panel because mine had ripped out the area where the front motor mount bolted to it. Found out years later that it probably did that due to the rear motor mount, which had a little shock absorber built into it, probably being bad. About 6 months after I replaced it the trans popped. Either the tow truck or the trans shop hooked a chain to the motor mount and bent/ripped the new header panel. |

Too many burnouts or just plain bad luck could toss the diff pin through the case. Chrysler later made some retainers which bolted to the diff via the ring gear bolts and were designed to keep those pins in place. I think the actual part is for the Neons, but if you trim the tab down they work just fine for our cars. I have installed them in at least one trans. They seem to work well.
