No such thing. Closest possible geographic candidate would be Detroit style (which is fucking glorious).

Never heard of it. I've had good pizza in Ohio though. But I don't think you could call it Ohio style pizza.

I've found lots of local, hole in the wall pizza joints that are amazing. I'm talking a ridiculous amount of cheese, not a whole lot of sauce, and more grease than a freshly purchased Mosin. Whether places like this are native to Ohio, I don't know.

Iv'e had pizza twice in Ohio. Two different years, two different places. Both cut it like a grid. Seemed odd. Must be an Ohio thing.

Pizza in Ohio is terrible. Maybe thats what he ment by Ohio style. crap pizza View Quote Finding good pizza in Ohio is probably like searching for the holy grail. Ohioans for the most part have no concept of what good pizza is. In eastern ohio, they have this trash called decarlos. Its a small local chain. The ohio valley natives rave about it. Its a sort of sicilian style, but it reminds me more of the awful pizza that was served in elementary school. There was a small restaraunt in toronto called Iggys. Their ohio style pizza was bad. But they made a BLT pizza that was very good. On the western side they have rosas (or is it derosas?). Like dominoes, but truly beyond awful. they may be a few good indepent shops in cincinnati. I went there for a woodworking book release and signing a year or two ago. It was a piss poorl planned event, and I didn't even get a chance to order a pizza or beer, they had everyone crammed in so bad. What do anarchists know about running a well planned event? Apparently not much. But the pizza looked and smelled good. I tried pizza at a place in cleveland that was shown on diners and dives. It was OK, but not as great as Guy seemed ro rave about. It was in a little strip mall/plaza on the east end of the city. Out past the big hospital. |

Somewhere in the Midwest I had the stupidest pizza: round crust, cut into squares. Why?

Forgot the name of the place, but had some good pizza in Minster. They cut it into squares as well....odd.

I'll just leave this here.
Ohio Valley-Style Pizza
Ohio has suffered a lot. Cleveland is, well, Cleveland, their whole population spends all their time trying to get out of there by going into space, Pennsylvania is always making fun of them, they have a rough lot. Making matters worse is that their attempt at making pizza, the Ohio Valley-style, seems to have been invented by a chef who wanted to find an elaborate way to turn pizza into a joke on an entire region. Like the delicious Detroit-style pizza, this is cooked in a square. Unlike that testament to grease and cooking-shit-in-industrial-parts-trays, these pizzas are filled with cold, uncooked toppings. That’s right, after the sauce (don’t get too exciting, it’s literally just stewed tomatoes), crust, and a tiny amount of base cheese is cooked, the rest of the cheese and additional toppings are sprinkled on top like a fucking lunchables. God. Dammit. To quote a native Ohio Valley…an, “Are we ahead of our time when it comes to making pizza, or are we just fucked up? I’m voting for the latter.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. View Quote Link: https://affotd.com/2013/05/22/the-five-worst-regional-pizzas-in-america/ |

http://www.chowhound.com/post/ohio-style-pizza-712383 I'll take Massey's over Donato's. Massey's has one store outside of Ohio in Myrtle Beach according to the owner at my local Massey's. Pizzaburg is OK. The Big Cheese Pizzeria has a thin cracker crust which is not my thing but good to others. |

The time I spent in Ohio back in '08/'09 people thought pepperoni, mushrooms & sausage was where it was at. So in my case I could call that "Ohio Style".
And yes I was told that translates to and should always be called a "PMS pizza" when ordering |

Probably as good as Ohio chili. Think they put their pizza on spaghetti, too?
