My neighbor on the farm across the street is in her late 70's and has lived most of her life there with her husband until he died last December. She claims he still comes home and gets into bed with her every night and leaves early in the morning like he always did. Back in the mid-80's my grandma received a call from my recently departed great Aunt's phone number in the middle of the night. It was a collect call in the middle of the night and the call was over half an hour long. My Great Aunt had no kids and the house was empty. Grandma had no recollection of any such call. |

Just a small story I thought I'd share. My aunt told my mother a story a few months ago about the house they grew up in, and it was recently told to me.
This took place when she was 14 and living with her parents(my grandparents). For some reason, she had to sleep on the couch in the living room downstairs one night, rather than in her bedroom. She woke up to the feeling of someone yanking on her ponytail. She sat up, but no one was there. This happened several times that night, and she finally screamed "stop it!". It never happened again, and that's the only weird experience anyone ever had in that house. |

Not really sure if it has been posted or not, I have only read up until page 4 then though of it, but has anyone heard of the smile.dog story? I read it on another forum I frequent, and by now it is probably long lost in the archives. I will look for it tomorrow. And by the way, this is my first post on here. I have been lurking for about 4 months, and finally made an account.

The late paranormal researcher D. Scott Rogo (who was murdered under bizarre circumstances and his killer was never found) once wrote a book called PHONE CALLS FROM THE DEAD. It was one of the creepiest things I ever read. |

Last year I shot a little 4 pointer a few minutes before sunset up on a mountainside. As I started to gut him, a fog rolled in. It hadn't rained in a while so the leaves were dry and crunchy. I could hear some other deer walking towards me, slowly crunching the leaves. At least I think they were deer! Who knows what the hell they were.
Another morning a few years ago, I was walking to my tree stand before light. I have seen the movie The Blair Witch Project. Not a good movie to see when you're walking in the woods in the dark. I kept seeing those stick men in the tree limbs. My wife thinks I'm crazy for being in the woods at night or in the dark. |

I have been trying to find the smile dog story but haven't had any luck. But here is one to hold you guys over until I find it.
*By the way, this isn't mine* A man went to a hotel and walked up to the front desk to check in. The woman at the desk gave him his key and told him that on the way to his room, there was a door with no number that was locked and no one was allowed in there. Especially no one should look inside the room, under any circumstances. So he followed the instructions of the woman at the front desk, going straight to his room, and going to bed. The next night his curiosity would not leave him alone about the room with no number on the door. He walked down the hall to the door and tried the handle. Sure enough it was locked. He bent down and looked through the wide keyhole. Cold air passed through it, chilling his eye. What he saw was a hotel bedroom, like his, and in the corner was a woman whose skin was completely white. She was leaning her head against the wall, facing away from the door. He stared in confusion for a while. He almost knocked on the door, out of curiosity, but decided not to. This disinclination saved his life. He crept away from the door and walked back to his room. The next day, he returned to the door and looked through the wide keyhole. This time, all he saw was redness. He couldn’t make anything out besides a distinct red color, unmoving. Perhaps the inhabitants of the room knew he was spying the night before, and had blocked the keyhole with something red. At this point he decided to consult the woman at the front desk for more information. She sighed and said, "Did you look through the keyhole?" The man told her that he had and she said, "Well, I might as well tell you the story. A long time ago, a man murdered his wife in that room, and her ghost haunts it. But these people were not ordinary. They were white all over, except for their eyes, which were red." |

Here is the story of Smiledog or Smile.jgp
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm175/iarepwn/smiledog.png The Curious Case of Smile.jpg JML I first met in person with Mary E. in the summer of 2007. I had arranged with her husband of fifteen years, Terence, to see her for an interview. Mary had initially agreed, since I was not a newsman but rather an amateur writer gathering information for a few early college assignments and, if all went according to plan, some pieces of fiction. We scheduled the interview for a particular weekend when I was in Chicago on unrelated business, but at the last moment Mary changed her mind and locked herself in the couple’s bedroom, refusing to meet with me. For half an hour I sat with Terence as we camped outside the bedroom door, I listening and taking notes while he attempted fruitlessly to calm his wife. The things Mary said made little sense but fit with the pattern I was expecting: though I could not see her, I could tell from her voice that she was crying, and more often than not her objections to speaking with me centered around an incoherent diatribe on her dreams –– her nightmares. Terence apologized profusely when we ceased the exercise, and I did my best to take it in stride; recall that I wasn’t a reporter in search of a story, but merely a curious young man in search of information. Besides, I thought at the time, I could perhaps find another, similar case if I put my mind and resources to it. Mary E. was the sysop for a small Chicago-based Bulletin Board System in 1992 when she first encountered smile.jpg and her life changed forever. She and Terence had been married for only five months. Mary was one of an estimated 400 people who saw the image when it was posted as a hyperlink on the BBS, though she is the only one who has spoken openly about the experience. The rest have remained anonymous, or are perhaps dead. In 2005, when I was only in tenth grade, smile.jpg was first brought to my attention by my burgeoning interest in web-based phenomena; Mary was the most often cited victim of what is sometimes referred to as “Smile.dog,” the being smile.jpg is reputed to display. What caught my interest (other than the obvious macabre elements of the cyber-legend and my proclivity toward such things) was the sheer lack of information, usually to the point that people don’t believe it even exists other than as a rumor or hoax. It is unique because, though the entire phenomenon centers on a picture file, that file is nowhere to be found on the internet; certainly many photomanipulated simulacra litter the web, showing up with the most frequency on sites such as the imageboard 4chan, particularly the /x/-focused paranormal subboard. It is suspected these are fakes because they do not have the effect the true smile.jpg is believed to have, namely sudden onset temporal lobe epilepsy and acute anxiety. This purported reaction in the viewer is one of the reasons the phantom-like smile.jpg is regarded with such disdain, since it is patently absurd, though depending on whom you ask the reluctance to acknowledge smile.jpg’s existence might be just as much out of fear as it is out of disbelief. Neither smile.jpg nor Smile.dog is mentioned anywhere on Wikipedia, though the website features articles on such other, perhaps more scandalous shocksites as goatse (hello.jpg) or 2girls1cup; any attempt to create a page pertaining to smile.jpg is summarily deleted by any of the encyclopedia’s many admins. Encounters with smile.jpg are the stuff of internet legend. Mary E.’s story is not unique; there are unverified rumors of smile.jpg showing up in the early days of Usenet and even one persistent tale that in 2002 a hacker flooded the forums of humor and satire website Something Awful with a deluge of Smile.dog pictures, rendering almost half the forum’s users at the time epileptic. It is also said that in the mid-to-late 90s that smile.jpg circulated on usenet and as an attachment of a chain email with the subject line “SMILE!! GOD LOVES YOU!” Yet despite the huge exposure these stunts would generate, there are very few people who admit to having experienced any of them and no trace of the file or any link has ever been discovered. Those who claim to have seen smile.jpg often weakly joke that they were far too busy to save a copy of the picture to their hard drive. However, all alleged victims offer the same description of the photo: A dog-like creature (usually described as appearing similar to a Siberian husky), illuminated by the flash of the camera, sits in a dim room, the only background detail that is visible being a human hand extending from the darkness near the left side of the frame. The hand is empty, but is usually described as “beckoning.” Of course, most attention is given to the dog (or dog-creature, as some victims are more certain than others about what they claim to have seen). The muzzle of the beast is reputedly split in a wide grin, revealing two rows of very white, very straight, very sharp, very human-looking teeth. This is, of course, not a description given immediately after viewing the picture, but rather a recollection of the victims, who claim to have seen the picture endlessly repeated in their mind’s eye during the time they are, in reality, having epileptic fits. These fits are reported to continue indeterminably, often while the victims sleep, resulting in very vivid and disturbing nightmares. These may be treated with medication, though in some cases it is more effective than others. Mary E., I assumed, was not on effective medication. That was why after my visit to her apartment in 2007 I sent out feelers to several folklore- and urban legend-oriented newsgroups, websites, and mailing lists, hoping to find the name of a supposed victim of smile.jpg who felt more interested in talking about his experiences. For a time nothing happened and at length I forgot completely about my pursuits, since I had begun my freshman year of college and was quite busy. Mary contacted me via email, however, near the beginning of March 2008. To: jml@****.com From: marye@****.net Subj: Last summer’s interview Dear Mr. L., I am incredibly sorry about my behavior last summer when you came to interview me. I hope you understand that it was no fault of yours, but rather my own problems that led me to act out as I did. I realized that I could have handled the situation more decorously; however, I hope you will forgive me. At the time, I was afraid. You see, for fifteen years I have been haunted by smile.jpg. Smile.dog comes to me in my sleep every night. I know that sounds silly, but it is true. There is an ineffable quality about my dreams, my nightmares, that makes them completely unlike any real dreams I have ever had. I do not move and do not speak. I simply look ahead, and the only thing ahead of me is the scene from that horrible picture. I see the beckoning hand, and I see Smile.dog. It talks to me. It is not a dog, of course, though I am not quite sure what it really is. It tells me it will leave me alone if only I do as it asks. All I must do, it says, is “spread the word.” That is how it phrases its demands. And I know exactly what it means: it wants me to show it to someone else. And I could. The week after my incident I received in the mail a manila envelope with no return address. Inside was only a 3 ½ -inch floppy diskette. Without having to check, I knew precisely what was on it. I thought for a long time about my options. I could show it to a stranger, a coworker… I could even show it to Terence, as much as the idea disgusted me. And what would happen then? Well, if Smile.dog kept its word I could sleep. Yet if it lied, what would I do? And who was to say something worse would not come for me if I did as the creature asked? So I did nothing for fifteen years, though I kept the diskette hidden amongst my things. Every night for fifteen years Smile.dog has come to me in my sleep and demanded that I spread the word. For fifteen years I have stood strong, though there have been hard times. Many of my fellow victims on the BBS board where I first encountered smile.jpg stopped posting; I heard some of them committed suicide. Others remained completely silent, simply disappearing off the face of the web. They are the ones I worry about the most. I sincerely hope you will forgive me, Mr. L., but last summer when you contacted me and my husband about an interview I was near the breaking point. I decided I was going to give you the floppy diskette. I did not care if Smile.dog was lying or not, I wanted it to end. You were a stranger, someone I had no connection with, and I thought I would not feel sorrow when you took the diskette as part of your research and sealed your fate. Before you arrived I realized what I was doing: was plotting to ruin your life. I could not stand the thought, and in fact I still cannot. I am ashamed, Mr. L., and I hope that this warning will dissuade you from further investigation of smile.jpg. You may in time encounter someone who is, if not weaker than I, then wholly more depraved, someone who will not hesitate to follow Smile.dog’s orders. Stop while you are still whole. Sincerely, Mary E. |

OK, enough with the stories that you know are fiction.
I'd rather hear, or read, 1st person or, at most, 2nd person accounts of things that happened. There are tons of creepy stories created by creative fiction writers as assignments for college classes. I really don't want to read 'em all. |

It's too close to Halloween to let this thread die. So I'm bumping it with two of the more unique stories I've seen lately.
http://inexplicata.blogspot.com/2009/10/argentina-mule-soul-mythical-creature.html Argentina: The Mule Soul - A Mythical Creature Reported in Loreto Source: La Arena (Newspaper) http://www.laarena.com.ar/avances/denuncian_en_santiago_del_estero_que_el__almamula__mutila_a_los_animales-1442.html Date: 10/16/2009 Argentina: The Mule Soul - A Mythical Creature Reported in Loreto A rancher living in an outlying district of the city of Loreto (Santiago del Estero) told police that a strange creature – known in popular mythology as “El Almamula” (the Mule Soul) has been attacking his animals and has already mutilated several of his pigs, eating “their eyes, tongues, livers and hearts.” Santiago del Estero - 10/16/2009 The man, identified as Mario Prado, a resident of Barrio Emergencia on the outskirts of Loreto, presented a complaint before Section 27 of the Provincial Police, further informing authorities that he would wait in a corner of his house, fully armed, in an effort to slay the creature and put an end to the “goings-on” “This situation doesn’t involve normal animals – it’s the handiwork of the Almamula, because it eats eyes, tongues, livers and hearts,” Prado pointed out, citing what he was told in turn by another local upon seeing the state in which his pigs had been found. According to his explanation, this neighbor also informed him that he should arm himself and wait in the pen for the next attack, and to file a complaint with the police, which he finally did in recent days. (Translation (c) 2009, S. Corrales, IHU. Special thanks to Grupo G.A.B.I.E) Tongue-eating mule spirits aren't your thing? How about a bipedal boar beast in boondocks of Florida? http://forteanzoology.blogspot.com/2009/10/true-story-of-boarman-of-seminole-woods.html THE TRUE STORY OF THE BOARMAN OF SEMINOLE WOODS! Hello! My Name is Michael Lovero and I have a very 'Strange - But True' story to tell you. A few years ago me and my then girlfriend were driving down Seminole Woods in Palm Coast FL. It was about 8:00 or 8:30PM at night when something ran right in front of our car! Its eyes reflected off the lights of the car, and my girlfriend, who was driving at the time, slammed on the brakes! We both just sat there quietly for a moment, trying to take in what we both knew that we had just seen. Now I just started dating her not too long ago, so not wanting to sound stupid, I thought that I'd ask her what she saw first. I said to her, "Did you just see that?" And she said, "yeah!" I said, "Well, what did you see?" She said, "It looked like a big wild boar running on two feet." And I said, "Yeah, that's what I saw too!" Only this thing had a human kinda body to it, only it had a boar's head, hands and feet. And it was covered all over with real dark fur. It stood about 5 feet and looked really mean and creepy! I know it sounds real stupid, but it was the scariest thing I ever saw! So we went home and told my family about it, and just as I thought, they just laughed and rightfully so. It is a stupid tale, for someone who hasn't seen it. So I went on about my business and tried to put it in the back of my mind. But it always bugged me. I mean, this thing is running around Seminole Woods and nobody but me and my girlfriend has seen this? Somebody had to have seen this thing! We both can't be the only ones. But I forgot about it until a few years later, when I got the answer to my question. I worked over at Palm Coast Data a while back, and I worked with a guy that we called Bone Baby. Well, one night Bone Baby came to work, and was very out of character. He was very quiet and looked kinda pale. We went outside for a smokebreak. I don't smoke, but I always went outside with them anyway just to talk a bit. Anyway, everyone's talking and Bone Baby's standing all alone in a corner and not saying anything. He always joined our conversation any other time, so we asked him if he was feeling well. He said, "Guys... if I tell you something do you promise not to laugh?" Curious, we promised not to. He said that he was staying over his friend's house in Seminole Woods, when they decided to go outside late that night and have themselves a smoke (and NO it was NOT POT). He said they seen something coming out of the canal. Right there I stopped him, and I said, "Did it look like a Giant Boar standing on two feet?" He turned white as a ghost, and said, "Dude, how the f*** did you know that?" I said, "Because me and my girlfriend seen the same thing a few years ago." He told me it had red eyes. When I seen it, I couldn't tell because the lights of our car hit them, and they reflected white. But anyway, now that I know that someone else has seen it, I have to know... Has anyone else seen this BoarMan in Seminole Woods? |

Ok, I guess it's time to add my contribution.
The following stories happened about 15 years ago when I was around 13-14. They're absolutely true even if I can't remember the exact order of the events or elaborate too much. I'll tell the second story first, because it was a simpler event. I was lying in bed going to sleep, probably on a school night. My room was completely dark and my door shut. While I was trying to go to sleep my bed made a light squeak, like someone gave it a light nudge. Then came another nudge and another and the bed was moving slightly with each nudge. They were very small at this point, but they kept getting stronger and stronger. I was freaking out by this point, because I'm alone in my bed, no one is in my room yet my bed is shaking so it must be a ghost. It got stronger to the point that it was like someone was pushing my bed. Imagine the kind of push you would give someone if you were trying to wake them up. But instead of a back and forth shake, it's just individual pushes. So push, brief moment, push, brief moment, etc. My entire bed was shaking and because of a loose bolt or two it was squeaking. The loose bolts probably also made the shaking more pronounced as it allowed the frame to give way and was not as stable. I was freaking out and didn't know what to do. I just tried to pretend to be asleep, hoping that whatever was shaking my bed would give up. Clearly the only point of shaking my bed would be to scare me, so if I'm asleep then it's not scaring me. So I kept my eyes shut, pretending to sleep, just praying that it would stop. I was in a dead panic I was so scared, but it would have been scarier to open my eyes and maybe see something or even invite further torment. I considered getting up and running, but playing possum was all I did. I have no idea how long this went on because it was so long ago, but I know I eventually fell asleep. I'm sure I was up for likely more than an hour though, because it's really quite hard to ignore a shaking bed that has to be from a ghost. Now for the earlier one, which was much worse. If I had to guess this even happened within a year before the above story. I'm pretty sure I was 13, because I know my friend moved into the neighborhood around that time and I told him about it the very next day. Again it was when I was in my bed, except this time my bedroom door was open and I was already asleep. The entire house was asleep so there was no lighting anywhere. The side of my bed was up against the wall with the window on it. The bedroom door was on the opposite wall and on the side of the room that was closer to my head. Meaning, if I was laying in bed and looked at the wall with the door, I'd see out the door into the hallway. Anyway, sometime in the middle of the night I awoke. I was facing the door and opened my eyes. I saw something in the door way. Not something completely formed like a person, but a form nonetheless that stood out from the white wall behind it. LIke a darkened shadow figure that was not plastered on the wall, but instead floating in the doorway. That freaked me out so I closed my eyes and rolled over onto my back. I kept my eyes closed for maybe a minute or less, still not completely sure of what I saw so not completely scared yet. So I opened my eyes again. I shouldn't have, because I instantly closed them again once I saw the form again. This time it was floating above me. Now I was seriously scared as I was certain I had just seen a ghost floating above my bed. This is my first ghost experience, but just like my second I used the same tactic. Ignore it. Pretend to sleep. Play possum. It's sort of like ignoring someone that picks on you. If they keep trying to annoy you, but you show no reaction they'll leave you alone. Well, if this ghost wants to scare me I'll ignore it and it will leave me alone. This one did not shake my bed, didn't make any noise, and I was sure as hell not going to open my eyes again so my tactic should have worked quite well. Not so. Lying there with my eyes clamped shut scared shitless after what I just saw I was freaking out. My arms were right by my side and legs straight, both tensed from the fear. As if I wasn't already scared enough, I then felt the ghost. It went through me. The order may not be correct, but what I say is true. I felt it go through my feet and up through my entire body and out my head. It felt like a wind and a chill with a little shake. My entire body was not tingled at the same time. It was more like a wave going through my body. Like only a ring of my body would feel it at a time and the ring/wave traveled through my body. This scared me more than I ever been scared, and also since. But it didn't end with that. The ghost went through my body again and again, in different directions. Once from my feet to my head, then from my head to my feet. Again and again in different directions. This might have happened 8 times, it might have happened 12 times. I can't say with any accuracy, but it happened at least 5 times I would say. I was a Catholic school boy so I began to pray. Basically just repeatedly chanting in my head, "God is with me, God is with me, God is with me." Maybe I should have used the Lord's name aloud to rebuke the spirit. Hell no I wasn't going to do that. Let the ghost know I was awake? Maybe even piss it off? It went through my body one last time. No, I'm not saying it stopped because of my praying. I might have not even started the chant until later, I'm not sure of the exact order or details. No, I just mean I specifically recall the last time it went through my body. This time it went through starting at my feet, the spine tingling chill coming all the way up to my head. But this time was not like the others, it did not just flow out my head. Instead as it hit my head a vision came to me, like an image in a dream. The image was of a demon running at me in growing perspective. It had an evil smile and sharp teeth and was shaking its arms in a wild manner as it ran towards closer in to encompass my mind's eye further. I don't recall if I heard it laughing, but it did have a look of evil laughter. It was not a photo real image, but more like a dark cartoon lacking too much detail. Nonetheless it scared the fuck out of me, especially since it occurred along with the wave that came up my body. The image didn't last and it flowed out of me once again. By this time my entire body is tensed up in extreme fear. My heart is pounding and I'm doing my best to keep my breathing normal. After all, if I'm breathing heavy I give away that I'm not actually asleep. By the way, it is really hard not to breathe hard when you're scared and your heart is pounding like that. Ok, so like I said that was the last time it went through my body, right? So the trouble is over, right? Oh, no no no no no. A short while later something else happened. Suddenly my lower legs began to shake violently, but they did not stop at shaking. They began to lift off from the bed. My legs pivoted up at the hips so my thighs were angled at about 45 degrees and my lower legs maintained parallel with the bed and were shaking the entire way up. Now if that doesn't scare the shit out of you I don't know what would. Even they were shaking violently and completely out of my control I forced them back to my bed. Locked them down and held tight and tense. I held the muscles tense and locked down, because I was afraid of it happening again. I stayed like that for quite a while after. I continued to pray and chant to myself, "God is with me, God is with me." I did not open my eyes, I did not let my legs untense, my heart pounded, my breath labored, and I stayed like that for over an hour, maybe even two. Eventually I fell asleep from sheer exhaustion. I woke up some time later, still in the middle of the night. The fear had subsided, my heart relaxed. But my body was aching from holding the same tense position for so long. I moved a little for comfort to stretch out and went back to sleep shortly as nothing else happened that night. So that's my two ghost stories. Now, I don't know if reading it is scary. I tried to add some detail to give an idea of how I felt that night, but A.) I'm not the best story teller and B.) it doesn't scare me anymore, so the details of fear do not come out naturally. But I can tell you that those events are true. Yes, my legs shook and lifted off the bed. No lie, no exaggeration on that part. Now for the boring part that may ruin the spookiness factor. Those events are completely true as told and they happened to me. But I no longer believe it was ghosts and I'll tell you why. The first story about the bed shaking happened as told. I was scared and my bed shook, that's all true. But I left out a part. I fell asleep and woke up a little later. The fear had subsided and the shaking had stopped. However, the shaking hadn't stopped completely. There was a tiny tiny little shake and squeak every moment. But it didn't scare me, because I noticed something. I noticed that each little shake happened at the same time as my heart beat. That's right, it was my heartbeat the whole time. I was lying on my stomach, so my chest was right up against the mattress. It was a kid's bed, so it was really just one mattress on top of a metal mesh, because under that was a trundle so there was no space for a box spring. Combine that with the loose bolts which made the entire bed easy to shake off balance and easy to squeak. So earlier in the night when my heart beat, it shook the bed ever so slightly. Not noticing it was my heart and being a young kid that believed in ghosts and aliens and kidnappers stealing me in the middle of the night, even a slight shake was scary. So my fear caused my heart to beat faster and harder making the shaking faster and harder too. Sounds stupid, but it really did shake quite a bit. Like a light punch on the side of the mattress shaking the entire bed, far more shaking than one would think is possible with just a beating heart. I've had my bed shake a little bit even now from my heart. As for the second story, that one is also true and happened as I told it. Started with seeing the form, then the waves going through my body, the vision in my head and my violently shaking, levitating legs. All true. I explain that one as simple fear. The waves going through my body, well that's just like chills going up your spine. It was strong and encompassed my entire body, but that's what I believe it was. Since I had thought I had seen a ghost I believed the chills as the ghost going through my body. The vision, well I just think it came up out of fear as well. I was scared and like I said it was kind of cartoon like. Oh yeah, the form I saw in the first place. Just a simple shadow or darkness that one sees in the night. Open your eyes in the middle of the night and look towards a wall or corner and you'll probably see darkness that seems to be moving. That's all it was and I let my imagination take it away. Seeing the same thing above me only reinforced it and let me run wild with it. The shaking legs thing is really weird. I mean sure, people shake when they're scared, but they also began to lift up. Pretty weird, yes, but if muscles can involuntarily shake then I suppose they can involuntarily lift up as well. All events were true, but I know now it was all just fear going wild. I have one last story though. I was at my lady friend's house sleeping next to her. I woke up to her standing by my side of the bed as she was likely just coming back from the bathroom. I looked at her and said, hi, just as I rolled and stretched out my arm and felt her lying next to me. I looked and she was next to me in bed. I looked back to the side of the bed and there was no one there. Sorry, but I can explain that one too. They're just my nightly hallucinations. I often wake in the middle of the night and see things and feel fear. I'll see something floating and it will go into the wall. It's not darkness shadows as I can have them in the light as well. It's just me being half asleep and hallucinating things. It happens to me numerous times a week. At the moment, I'm scared, but as soon as I wake enough the fear leaves completely as it's only an illogical, half-asleep type fear. I fall back asleep nearly instantly without second thought for any of it. And that's my contribution. Pretty bad, huh, because I ruined them. They were pretty good stories when I was a kid though as I believed it then. |

Nope Its good to see some healthy skepticism. I have that same exact problem, I still do at times. My brain doesn't time the dream state correctly and its kind of funky. I think many people dont look into that possibility and they just go with the whole ghost thing. |

Well this certainly doesn't compare to most of the stories in this thread: My wife and I were enjoying a nice breakfast at an IHOP several years ago and my attention was immediately drawn to this very creepy old guy who was eyeballing my wife like he was deciding what he was going to eat for dinner that night. The guy was definitely not right in the head. For the next 20 minutes or so, he would move around in his seat and make weird facial expressions like he had something bad inside of him. There was another man sitting with him at the table, maybe in his late 30's, and he did not seem the least bit bothered by what crazy-old-guy was doing. When my wife was getting into our car, the guy comes running out of the restaurant yelling, "Your wife looks awesome in those daisy dukes!" "I love it when women like to dress like that". At first I was , but then I started to get I said, "You had better back the fuck up!", simultaneously while I was reaching behind my back in a feint to go for a weapon. The creepy old dude instantly backs off saying, "Whoa, I don't want to hurt anyone, I just like the way she looks!" He ran back inside the restaurant and I left with my wife. Supernatural shit doesn't bother me in the least. But crazy people - They freak me out. You just don't know what a crazy person is going to do. I can't remember who it was who said it, but there are two types of crazy people:

Ok... so I finally have something worthy of contributing to this thread. But I need to set it up right so you all understand.
Ok... so the other night Halloween mind you, my wife and I go out to dinner and a movie... At the movie I ordered a large (JUG-O-PEPSI) needless to say I ended up drinking the entire thing. When I finally got home at 12:00pm or so I was wired. So I started reading this thread. It got me thinking of all the times I have been out in the wild by myself or with close friends when sh!t just happens that you can't explain. Sometimes its your mind sometimes its a squirl making noises louder than any squirrel should make, and sometimes it really is something other-worldly that you really just don't want to know about. So I stayed up until about 5:00am today reading all these stories and doing my own research on the web. When I finally got to sleep I did not sleep well, as the wife woke me up soon after my eyes closed and the only dreams i had were ones straight out of Warewolf and Bigfoot horror shows. Before I started my day I decided I should take my dog on the usual walk. We start out in suburbia/ concrete and end up walking along a very quiet secluded trail along a river. I haven't really run into anything out of the usual here but as we walked alone in seclusion from the rest of the world the hair on the back of my neck kept raising. So here we are walking stealthily through the woods not making a sound so much as a whisper to tell my dog to stay close and be quiet. And all of a sudden this tremendous loud crashing and leaf crushing noise comes rushing up behind us. MY dog and I both freak as we turn around and see this large dark brown figure rapidly making headway towards us giving us little chance for fight or flight, practically as if it came out of no where. I instantly blade at 45 as I whip around. And sure as shit a black guy on a mountain bike goes screaming by me.

That is creepy |

Here's one that was very creepy at the time. It still weirds me out a bit.
There was a creepy* neighbor when I was growing up. All of us neighborhood children/youths were all scared of him, but morbidly fascinated. He was seriously into occult stuff, had books like "How to Fake Your Own Death." After his suspicious "natural causes" death (found naked at an equally creepy friend's house), a few of us heavily armed ourselves and explored his empty house. We went into the basement that looked like a holding cell, and all 3 of us clearly heard someone walking across the floor above us. It was scary, since we all heard it and there was nobody there. It wasn't a creak of house settling; it was a series of footsteps traversing the living room floor. We left in a hurry, but the room was empty as we passed by. *creepy as in: -Burned down 2 of my neighbors' houses and another neighbor's shop. A friend was a local firefighter and he swears up and down this guy did all of those fires. This neighbor always was one of the first to show up and watch the fires. Fully dressed at 3am watching a fire. -Cross-dressed while grocery shopping. -Shot a kid I knew with a shotgun. Not fatal, but led to the following event -Had home raided by police and subsequently federal agents. He never was nabbed for anything, AFAIK. -Disappeared for months at a time, and would always have his car or truck painted a different color upon his return - Krylon, not professional. -Had a dead dog in a garbage bag in an abandoned camper on his property. -Property occasionally had that "dead animal" smell. -Had an empty room in the top floor of his barn. Empty except for floral wallpaper from floor to ceiling including over windows, and a rocking chair in the center. -Spied on the entire neighborhood; I saw him in my own bathroom window once, and he was known to hide in bushes photographing homes. -2 or 3 months after he died, the huge trees and grass on his property were consumed by a suspicious fire. This was a big fire; he had several 50-100 foot tall trees. The property was like a mini-forest on 3 acres. It would not have surprised me at all to learn that he was involved in serial murder. My father went to his viewing, and I sat in at his funeral. Partly because he had always been good to my family, and at least a small part to see if it was a hoax. |

So a couple years back I was riding the school bus home. I live way out in the country so I’m the last to get off. Me and the bus driver are about to turn off to the last section of dirt road when he slams on the breaks and shouts what the hell is that?!?!?! I sit up startled and see something about 60 yards out in front of us on a small rise on the road just before the turn. It resembled something an old farmer told me had been killing his cattle for years and said he always saw 2 together. The beast looked like a large hound but moved like a big cat, it was jet black and it’s shoulder height must have been 3’5 ft with a very slim profile. It had its back to us and was walking down the backside of the rise. When we lost sight of it I told the driver to get up there to it. He gunned it but when we got there it was gone. I looked to the left and saw the top wire of a 6 string bouncing and new he was going through the shrubs to the thicker woods about a 3/4 a mile out at the base of a mountain where the old man said he’d seen it several times. So the bus driver starts back to my house and I call my friend and tell him whats up and to meet me at my house. I went in the house to grab my AR and throw my tac vest and come out to wait for my bud. He shows up with his 30-06 so I jumped in his truck and went back to the site. We crossed the fence and picked up a set of very large paw prints and started to fallow them. We where so focused in tracking it that by the time we had reached the mountain it was already getting dark. Realizing neither one of us had a light we decided to head back. We had only about 100 yards of heavy woods left before we where in the shrubs and muskeet trees when we heard a deep low growl from behind us. We started to walk again when we heard a second growl to our left about 30 yards away. We decide it was time to take off and started to sprint to the edge of the woods. As we ran the beasts could be heard keeping up with us. At one point the beast most have been 20 ft back and was snarling and snapping with rage just out of sight. We turned away to the right and got into a clearing and stopped prepared to shoot but nothing came out of cover. We stood there for about 10 minutes and could hear the 2 things circling us at opposite ends. By now it was to damn dark to see anything. We waited until neither one of them was between the road and us and took off running again. They got right back on use and stayed with us until we hit the road. I was scared as shit cause it was pitch black and there was no moonlight. We had to walk down the road about 300 yards to get to the truck but never heard anything. We got in and my buddy dropped me of at the house. He had to cross back over that road to get home and called me shortly after leaving mine and said you could see our tracks on the road and 2 sets of the giant paws. I never did see it again and it rained that night and washed the tracks off. Ever since then I never walk around out here without a gun and a light <a href="http://img232.imageshack.us/i/l598f2e033ac8ab474e0ac6ej3.jpg/" target="_blank">http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/4663/l598f2e033ac8ab474e0ac6ej3.th.jpg</a> it was shaped like this but black and more filled out. it also had a long thick tail and a but i never saw its head. Saw this three nights ago. Driving home from work, I live about 30 miles out in the country, it emerged from the barrow on the side of the road and ran at my truck, as I was driving past. There are normally a lot of deer on the road, but this was black with brown around the face and it ran lifting its legs like a bear on the run. Long tall and skinny, not like anything I've ever seen. Spectral Hounds have been recorded for centuries. I am not too familiar with them killing livestock but it may be possible.....though they are scary, shooting them or harming them seems, apparently, ill advised as it apparently brings VERY bad luck. You do NOT fuck with Moddey Dhoo. Spectral hounds/black dogs interest me. Some of them (mostly ones with specific names) are omens of impending death or misfortune, and if you see them you know bad shit is about to happen. Others are merely omens of something significant changing in your life in the near future (good or bad). Others are seen as protectors, guarding travelers (especially children) from harm until they reach home. It's interesting to see the different versions different locales have of the same phenomena. Saw it again the other night, Black Bear, I feel like a retard but the way it caught the light from my headlights and that most of where I live is prarie I didn't consider that this area on my drive home was by timber. I saw it again in about the same spot with a group of deer about 100 yds down the road from it, this time I got a good look though. |

He told me that he and his wife were driving down a quiet road at night, and he saw a woman fly over the hood of his car, right to left, several feet over the hood, looking at he and his wife through the window as she went across. He said at first, he thought he had hit her, and he was stopping to go help her, when it came to him that he hadn't hit her, and she had flown over the car without touching it. At this point I said wait a second, slow down. I asked him if it looked like a ghost, see through or any of the descriptions you'd normally hear of ghosts. He said no, she looked like a real woman, and she was wearing a "plum" dress that flapped in the wind (!). He said she had gray skin. I asked him "Like a dead person?" He said yes. I asked if his wife saw the same thing. He said yes. He was totally serious. The other guys were chuckling, because they had heard the story before, but he never cracked a smile whatsoever. I talked to them about it later, and said he doesn't seem like he is making it up, and they agreed. He really believes he saw this. I think it's possible he did too. |

The Rabbit EaterBY TWILIGHT BOWHUNTERIt was back in October of 1985. I was out bow hunting in a woods near a big swamp my grandfather used to own on a beautiful fall afternoon. I had been watching a couple of squirrels and a rabbit for about a half hour when to the left of me I heard a low rustling, like someone trying to sneak up on me. All of a sudden, this thing ran past me like I wasn't even there. It chased the rabbit down and started to eat it. I say "thing" because I've seen a lot of things in the woods but this was about 3 feet tall with arms and legs like you and me. There was sparse hair all over it grayish-colored skin, and its face had a more pronounced nose and mouth with wild-looking eyes. I know this sounds weird, but I got a real good look because I had it at full draw but couldn't shoot in the moment of disbelief. I have told hundreds of people of my tale and I will go to my grave telling it. I've been back to that swamp many times. It's just outside Madison, Wisconsin. I hope to see it again one day, only this time I will put an arrow through it. Source: Your True Tales |

Not really much to add as far as scary stories but I had a couple of "interesting things occur a short while after my father died. I was 9 when he dies and am now 26. My mother an I lived in the same same house for about another 6 months after he passed. The house was a rather large single story house (6 bedroom, three bath, three kitchen) and was sectioned off so as to have 3 families living ther comfortably. My godmother lived in the main/largest section, my mother myself and while alive my father lived in the smallest section (Still large for a two bedroom house)
My personal experience was sleeping in my godmothers side of the house months after he died, while laying down trying to sleep I saw the light from the hallway was blocked (I was turned away torwads the wall) I turned to look at the doorway expecting to see my mother or godmother but instead saw a tall shadow in a cowboy hat at the doorway. I remember just staring for a moment then just closing my eyes with a sense of peace. I later told my cousin who sometimes slept in that same room when he would come to visit and he told me that he once saw something similar. ( My father always wore a cowboy hats, while that might be normal in most of the country, for a Cuban in Miami it was a bit odd I thought.) Again in my godmothers side of the house, this time years later, I once came to wake her up for her medication and remember her laying there with her oxygen on (she was obese with a heart condition and several other conditions and scared of death till the end) I touched the side of her arm gently to wake her up with my cousin next to me and what she did next scared my cousin out of the room and sat me on my ass. I remember her eyes opening and looking up for a moment then turning to me, then she screamed. Not a "OMG you scared me " scream or a "where'd you come from scream" but the scream of someone who's watching their own endtrails being draged out by a child. Her eyes opened wide as quarters and I could have sworn that she was about to have a heart attack. After stepping back a bit still scared I tried to walk up to her asking her what was wrong and see if she was ok (my cousin had gone to get my mom) but she kept trying to push herself further away from me, it was then that I realized that I WAS CAUSING THIS REACTION. I walked out of the room still facing her as she began to calm down. By the time I was in the hallway my mother (having heard the screams) had reached the room with my cousin and talked to her a bit. She explained to me that my godmother had not seen me but my father when she looked at me, not that I looked like him (at that point much shorter, whiter, and skinier) but that it was my father standing there in front of her. This is easily explained with her old age, medications, and the fact that she had just woke up but to this day I have only heard a scream like that once. The last one of my experiences isn't my own but my mothers and was told to me while home on leave this past December. It happened in the months just after my father passed while we still lived in that section of the house. my mother shared this wThe fact that my mother shared this with me now over 15 years later kinda put things into perspective in my mind. She told me of a night that the bedroom door creeked open and she felt another person in the room. She then felt a weight on my fathers side of bed and a heavy weight on her thigh and leg (I always throw my leg over my SO too, figures.) My mother, not exactly a very religious person said that she began praying, not for her safety but for my father to find his place and his peace. She said that shortly there after she fell asleep and never had another experience like that. |

They were white all over, except for their eyes, which were red." I don't get it.
