Guy from Michigan here that laughs when it gets a little chili in Texas and your deer freeze to death.

Serious question. I'll be out of state visiting relatives. What do y'all think? Leave cabinets open and drip faucets?

Quoted: Do y’all think this is enough mre’s for two days at freezing? I heard keeping your caloric intake up is important. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/478694/7DA732F8-A7E1-4552-BE81-DA170EBC0E10_jpe-2640879.JPG View Quote Since your pipes will be frozen and you won't be able to flush, this is a solid plan. |

Use it! |

At least heat is cheap right?

I’ve been building a tactical, strategic, caloric reserve for the past year in anticipation for this. I’ve also gained the trust of several neighborhood feral cats in case they need to be harvested. I am prepared.

Moved to Athens TX from the KC area this spring. Have a 53 acre ranch outside of town. What do you guys do about your water service being PVC that is ~8In deep in a valve box with the pipe exposed? Should I stuff the valve box with fiberglass insulation? Same with outdoor silcocks. Drip those or wrap and cover them? I grew up in Nebraska and lived in KS for 25 years, we shut off and blow out any exposed pipe like this. Water service is ~100 yards from the house. Can’t find the water shutoff to the home or out building. Oh, and I am currently 12 hours away in Nebraska.
Thank you. |

Quoted: Hope you guys paid attention to the info and advice from last years mega thread and put in isolation valves, drains, pipe insulation, heat tape and dozens of other suggestions us cold weather folks gave ya'll incase it happened again. Be smart with the next few days preparing and stay safe guys. View Quote |

It gives me a good chuckle seeing all of the panic over what I would consider a "nice" winter day. I just looked at our forecast and 50mph winds and 6-12 inches of snow potentially (Friday) This comes after we had about 16 inches of snow this weekend. |

Quoted: Take over Mexico? Are you crazy ! View Quote No. Like 3 Texas boys could take it over. Have you seen some Mexican women? Plus all the food. Set up a compound close to the equator and we are golden. Fuck it, let me go load up the truck. Oh….. wait….. it’s like 40 outside. I’ll do it later. |

It probably wouldn't take much to convince the locals to drop the bridges over the Mississippi and hoist the Lone Star if that meant escaping clown world. |

Just a "I do what I want" shitpost.
Hope ya'll don't freeze to death with your little cold snap. |

You'll be fine. There's been worse. If you're scared
just go down to Victoria for a couple days. |

They can have heat and still get frozen pipes. |
