Why did'nt anyone tell me about these things? I have made three of them the past couple of nights, gave one to my daughter and I am keeping the other two. These are great! I'm probably going to make as many as the 200 foot of paracord can put out.
 Dadgum, I have bought a dozen of these over the years and now I can make my own. Cobra weave FTW!

Out of curiosity, what length of paracord does it take to make a bracelet?
I know the basic purpose is so that you HAVE some paracord easily accessible should you need it, so how much do you get out of a bracelet? |

IIRC, about 8 feet. I think that braid produces about a 1 foot to one inch ratio.

It does'nt take 15 minutes to make one once you get it down. This will be my addiction for a few weeks. My daughter loves hers and my girlfriend does'nt like them nor does she understand them.

I saw they were selling already made bracelets for $6.00 to $10.00 and then saw the bundles of paracord. The owner said I could make my own and do just as good. I am really liking this...the uses are endless of course.

Sounds like the method is similar to making those gimp bracelets I had to do for craft merit badges at Boy scout camp.
Has anyone done different patterns than the "cobra" method? IIRC there was several different stitches that should give you more length of cord/inch.

I remember doing something similiar in Scouts, years ago. The multi cam type ACU paracord is my favorite color right now...that and the desert cam I'll get tomorrow. |

I've worn a variety of them since 2003. I've worn a Coyote Brown one when i deployed to Iraq; then a foliage green after i gave the othe rone a retirement. Now i am wearing a blue and black one (TBL) and i wear it daily.

I am not wanting to knock someone's "extra buck" but I thought I'd post up something that I could do myself and make them custom for whatever I want them for. The uses are endless...I may paracord different gun-related items just for the heck of it. Mags, accessories..I am just getting started on this venture. Girlfriend just rolled her eyes when she saw me weaving... "Can we watch the movie now?"

I made a cobra weave watch band. It works pretty well and is comfier than other watch bands. I really hope I never have to unwind it, but its nice to have just in case. It has 8.5' of 550 cord IIRC.

If you did'nt have a surplus store you might order online and get 100 foot in the colors you desire and get plenty of buckles. They have them in different colors also. Walmart does have the larger nylon cord that could probably be made for bigger things..like a jetski rope, toe rope or maybe a snatch em' strap for my Jeep. I'm gonna check the tonnage weight rating and see if it will work if it gets quadrupled/sextupled or triple by-pass weaved... |

Why would a man want to wear a bracelet in the first place except maybe one of the old POW/MIA bracelets? I must have missed the acceptable male fashion memo on bracelets. |

They work great on double-zippered cover-alls and bibs when you got to take a leak. I prefer nylon boot-lace to make those with. That said I still don't see the practical application of a 550-cord bracelet. Heck IHMO they don't even look cool. If one wanted to carry around several feet of 550-cord perhaps it would be a bit more manly to carry a 5" 4-braid 550-cord key-chain. |
