I find this paracord-thing quite fascinating. And I kinda want to give this a try, but I'm not good at puzzles or crafty things. so it's sort of intimidating.
Though I have lots of plain paracord around, I'll need some with a bit more color. edit: What size and curve of buckles for each project? |

I made this simple one which is my favorite currently. http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb358/sabroso1/661c9397.jpg It's just an in and out weave between two elastic hair ties so there are no buckles or knot or anything. http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb358/sabroso1/843b87c7.jpg http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb358/sabroso1/f4c474a2.jpg Details please. Is there a link with detailed instructions? |

I'd suggest the slightly bigger buckles for larger weaves that have been mentioned in this thread. Go youtubing to find the weave and pattern you like. Start with the single cobra and learn how to do the weaves and it's easy from that point on. If you have an Army/Navy surplus in town, this would be the place to go find all the different paracord colors and buckles. It is addicting..I have made about 20 of them now, gonna give out some gifts plus make different other paracord by-products...I made a key chain, a reloader lanyard and flashlight lanyard. I'm enjoying finding uses it for it. |

Winner! +1, That bullwhip is badass. I need one. I haven't thought about a whip in a long time. I used to screw around with them when I was a wee lad. Man, you gotta post the link to the instructions. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-JE1ss0Ts8yA/Tw4mviDArHI/AAAAAAAANwk/uAVNOStyJBw/s800/IMG_20120111_181743.jpg Took me about 20 minutes. I took the base cord and melted the ends together. A little cleaner than a knot. I got 100 feet of black, 50 of olive drab, 50 of brown camo and 50 of a blue and white mix. I'm going to make a sling for the AK, and will probably do the base cord with black, then do black over it in a cobra weave, then do black/olive over that to thicken it up a bit. Should work out well... but I need to order the sling loop for my ACE folding stock... When you finish it instead of melting the ends right there. Leave about another 1/2 on the end and loop them back into and under the last of the center weave and melt or glue them between the center weave and interior cord. It will hide the ends better. Each end will naturally go to each side. Also if you start from the other end, the loop formed when you run the cord threw the buckle is a good way to hold or hide (if you do one with jointed cords) the start of the weave section. Just little things I have learned from making hundreds of them. |

I really really want one made in Ducati Red and Black, a short keychain version about 2" long and a bracelet. Problem is finding the correct color shade of red paracord, plus the fact that I can't braid worth a damn

Why did'nt anyone tell me about these things? I have made three of them the past couple of nights, gave one to my daughter and I am keeping the other two. These are great! I'm probably going to make as many as the 200 foot of paracord can put out. Dadgum, I have bought a dozen of these over the years and now I can make my own. Cobra weave FTW! http://i43.tinypic.com/2h6hd8m.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/30sk3a1.jpg where do you get the tiny buckles? |

Maybe it's just me but the only 550 bracelet I wore was made and given to me by Recon Marines for the work I did with them. I wouldn't feel right making one myself and wearing it around town. I often get asked if I was Recon (because of the bracelet) and I'm very quick to tell the truth about how I obtained my bracelet. It was an honor to have been given that bracelet. Yup, its just you Oh well, guess I'm just not cool for having one with meaning and that I didn't make. To some it's a big deal to get one of those bracelets, more than just a fashion accessory. I didn't realize it was a Force Recon thing. I mean it's not like wearing an EGA or shirt that says ARMY on it. I thought they were simply "just in case" types of things that people carried for one reason or another in what was a convenient way for them. I mean I'm a little ignorant on them. I've only glossed over the few threads I've seen in GD on them and thought they could come in handy. cheel, winston! it's like shemagh's; started off with deployed personnel sporting them then carried over to the civ side of the house as an affectation. |

Do you guys make them stripped or with all the cords inside? There was some guys in my old unit that used to make them, I never had time to deal with it. Now that I'm out, it's a whole nother story. The lanyard looks interesting to me, me want :) |

I dicked around with figuring out how long a base cord I'd need for my AK sling... I'm gonna need about 60 feet of cord to do the first weave, then likely a lot more to do the second...
Guess I'm gonna have to plan it out a bit and then get more 'cord. |
