I would like to add...and in keeping with trying to name actors that have not been brought up

Shirley Maclaine "Terms of Endearment" (I always thought this was a very well acted movie)

James Cromwell "The Sum of All Fears"

James Earl Jones "Coming to America" (even though Darth Vader is his "greatest role", he knocked his role in coming to america out of the park...slightly better than even the magnificent movie "The Sandlot"

Michael Clarke Duncan "Armegeddon"   (Yes, he was in better movies, but as an actor, not just a giant guy, his acting was one of the things that made this movie)

Willie Nelson "Huneysuckle Rose"   (Willie is a really good actor and of all the roles he played, none was more authentic than this movie)

Bill Murray - “The Razor’s Edge”

ETA- One of my favorite books and Bill Murray nailed his performance as Larry Darrell. NAILED IT.

Not from the book but the eulogy that Murray wrote for John Belushi’s funeral. However, it nicely dovetails with the theme of the book.

One more.....

Tom Skerritt "A River Runs Through It"

I am a trained actor.  I have trained at prestigious schools and acting studios.  I have starred in movies.  I love my craft as an actor and remain a student of it, and its masters.   The movie "A River Runs Through It" is a master class in acting by Tom Skerritt.   This simple scene, among so many, conveys the simplicity of a good scene.

My choice as well. He nailed that role.

It seems everybody I know can rattle off a number of his quotes from the movie.

I'm a major William Holden fan.

He played himself in many ways throughout his life, dashing, heroic and anti-authority in the beginning, and a successful but sad and lonely old man declining fast in the later years (he nearly duplicated Breezy in real life with Stephanie Powers).  But he always delivered and had a cynical edge that I like.

Some of his best early roles were Sunset Blvd and Bridge over River Kwai, and late roles being Network, S.O.B., and The Earthling.

I think he was better in The Fugitive. Smaller role, but better played.

Honorable mention for his portrayal of Scrooge in the TV movie version of "A Christmas Carol." Absolutely nailed the part in the definitive filmed version.

Fun fact: Clancy Brown who played the Kurghan in Highlander also voices Mr. Crabbs in SpongeBob SquarePants. As well as a lot of other voice work. He's quite versatile.
