Been browsing around and looking to pick up another Preban Chinese AK rifle and see the most extreme asking prices?! What is going on? Most of these do not have takers and seems as if people are holding out on selling if they do not get their extreme asking price. What is going on in today's Chinese Preban AK market!?

I picked one up last Nov. Just could not pass up at LGS. Norico model 56S AK47 NIB never fired, all items 3 mags. $1456.25 OTD. One owner bought new in 1986. I like it more than my preban Yugo which I happen to really think is the shitz....
That is a fair price for sure. Seems as if the last 6 months have gotten ridiculous. Supply and demand I guess. Simple economics.

I have 2 preban Norincos, a 56s and 56s-1. I have been offered $2500 for the pair and turned it down. It is not that I think they are worth more than that, it is finding a suitable replacement. The underfolder shows a little wear, but the fixed stock has 30 rounds through it since new and has the original accessories and box with unbroken Styrofoam. The underfolder gets taken out occasionally, but I mostly own is since it looks cool.

Must be a supply and demand thing. If people are paying the prices then that's what they are worth.
I do like a nice Chinese AK, I think they made some of the best, but I don't see paying twice or three times the price over a Saiga or a Bulgy.
I will give you $2600. Quoted:

I paid $800
For mine local sale. This was 2 years ago though. Quoted:

It amazes me that the Chinese AK's didn't jump up in price long ago. The postban models I understand staying cheap, but the preban guns were nice, and there really weren't that many of them brought in, and an awful lot of those were bought by people who never intended to sell them and haven't.
My honest opinion is that they aren't as nice as some of the European weapons you can buy today, what they are is as close to military weapons as you can get legally. It is the functionality and simplicity of an AK that is the real draw of the AK, and you can't get a better personification of that than the Chinese rifles from the late seventies through mid eighties. |

I would love to have one of these. Beautiful AK.

Just picked up a Spiker this week for a great price. Excellent condition inside and out. Took me a few months to track one down and can't wait for it to get here. My favorite rifle to shoot and just looks awesome!

I kind of want a Type 56 underfolder with the spike bayonet but not at the prices they command now. I still remember the days when you could buy two Polytech underfolders for $300. Or maybe they were Norinco, don't really remember that was a long time ago
How much for a Norinco pre-86 underfolder?
Polytech machined receiver wood stock and underfolder? |
I've owned a bunch in the past. Only one I really regret selling is the side folder with the red plastic furniture. That being said, I think the Bulgarian AK's are nicer.

I still remember the day in the early 80's when my local GS got its first shipment of Poly Techs (Spikers) in, $350 for the Folder & $325 for the fixed, I took one of each I had to evacuate them to PA for safekeeping! I sold another one I had no room for in PA for around 2K a few months back, Sad to see it go. |

With kits drying up, I think the costs are all going up on AKs. I was looking at buy & sell on another site and everything seems to be $1,000+. Granted there's more of a collector value in AKs than ARs. It'd be nice if Arsenal got realistic with their prices
What's the deal with the spike bayonet? I would think we'd see those on WASRs and other OTS AKs here in the states.

I have a new set of Legend wood in plastic bags in case I ever want to sell mine. If I put it on the rifle now, it'll just screwed up from even casual shooting. |

I was just trying to say there doesn't seem to be much of an aftermarket spiker market. Most people that want the spiker feature want a true military spiker for a clone.

Still one of my favorite shooters. |
