Attached File Attached File It exploded! I swear! I was just looking at it. Attached File Attached File And the new hound. Mix of a mix of a mix of a mix but 100% loyal hound, yard vigilante. She was born in prison (animal control), then sent back when she was two and a half and did three months on the inside. Was really aloof with people, not mean at all, just wanted nothing to do with people. Was a runner. Now she's phenomenal with people of all personalities. 100% protective and keyed on me. The wife brought the Ridgeback home and it bonded with her. I brought this one home and she's bonded with me. Still very protective of wife, but if I stand up too fast, she comes running from wherever she is to see what's up. Attached File Attached File I smell a cat. Attached File |

He's a good boy. https://i.postimg.cc/Wp8r7mJv/20220208-120734.jpg View Quote Came real close to shooting one of those one night. He was our neighbor's dog. I knew him and had even scratched his back the several times he migrated over. One night, i walked out to check on my female lab. She was in heat and doing time in the kennel. I did not know he was out there, guarding her. When one of those four legged yetis fires up and charges you in anger, well, i think i spotted my underwear a tad. I drew and discharged a .38 round in the dirt just in front of him as he was coming at me. It stopped him, but the he didn't turn tail. Just stood there, looking at me. I backed off and called the neighbors to come get him. Was not real sure a cylinder full .38 would actually stop one. |

We are talking with a GSD breeder and if everything goes well we will have a puppy by the end of September. I present Garrus, he is a gentleman. He is marked as a feral cat, but the shelter said he was so nice they put him with the rest of the kittens. Here was his photo on the humane society website. But from what I understand, our modern Greyhounds are a celtic breed and have no genetic match to the area of ancient Israel. Which would suggest that it was a different Greyhound type or similar looking dog (Persian Greyhound or maybe a Pharaoh Hound?) were what was actually there. Speaking of, I forget, is it mentioned what type of dogs ate Jezebel? What pops into my mind when speaking of Primitive breeds is the subsect of Ancient breeds that are sled dogs/spitzs and those that retain a wolflike appearance. Though from what I understand Pharaoh Hound and a few others are true primitives. I call my two primitive breeds because they both have more measurable wolf DNA than your average dog. Though from what I understand Pharaoh Hound and a few others are true primitives. I call my two primitive breeds because they both have more measurable wolf DNA than your average dog. The CSV especially. The KJV's translators were basically ignorant of both Middle Eastern zoology and historical Hebrew zoological terms. Often times the animals are only slightly off to the real thing, but sometimes really off - for instance, "wild ox" is actually "re'em", the oryx - a large ungulate about the size of an American elk. Still, "save me from the horn of a unicorn/oryx" never really made sense until I saw one on a Planet earth type show, when it really fucked up an attacker with its horns....... As far as greyhounds, I'm not going into the Hebrew nor comparing it with the ancient Greek and Latin translations (which might be helpful for zoologic correlation) but we have this - bottom line is that this kind of hound is definitely 1000s of years old, but the KJV reference might be off. The ancient skeletal remains of a dog identified as being of the greyhound/saluki form were excavated at Tell Brak in modern Syria,[when?] and dated as being approximately 4,000 years old.[58][59] Historical literature by Arrian on the vertragus (from the Latin 'vertragus', a word of Celtic origin),[60] the first recorded sighthound in Europe and possible antecedent of the Greyhound, suggested that its origin lies with the Celts from Eastern Europe or Eurasia. Systematic archaeozoology of Britain conducted in 1974[61] ruled out the existence of a true greyhound-type in Britain prior to the Roman occupation, which was further confirmed in 2000.[62] Written evidence from the early period of Roman occupation, the Vindolanda tablets (No. 594), demonstrate that the occupying troops from Continental Europe either had with them in the North of England, or certainly knew of, the vertragus and its hunting use.[63] The Greyhound is the only dog mentioned by name in the Bible; many versions, including the King James Version, name the Greyhound as one of the "four things stately" in Proverbs 30:29–31. However, some newer biblical translations, including the New International Version, have changed this to 'strutting rooster', which appears to be an alternative translation of the Hebrew term 'mothen zarzir'. However, the Douay–Rheims Bible translation from the late 4th-century Latin Vulgate into English translates this term as "a cock." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greyhound As far as the OP, I submit the following ancient breed dog doing ancient breed dog stuff. Quoted: But the Celts believed that Greyhounds came from Greece: The Odyssey of Homer, Book 17, lines 290-327: "Then a dog, prone in the dirt, raised its head and pricked up its ears.It was Argus, brave Odysseus's hunting dog, whom he himself had brought up many years ago. But before he could enjoy being with the hound, he left for sacred Troy. In earlier days, young men would take the dog to hunt wild goats, deer, and rabbits, . . . Odysseus looked away and brushed aside a tearhe did so casually to hide it from Eumaeus. Then he questioned him: "Eumaeus, it's strange this dog is lying here,in the dung. He has a handsome body. I'm not sure if his speed once matched his looks or if he's like those table dogs men have, the pets their masters raise and keep for show." Then, swineherd Eumaeus, you answered him and said: "Yes, this dog belongs to a man who died somewhere far away. If he had the form and acted as he did when Odysseus left him and went to Troy, you'd quickly see his speed and strength, and then you'd be amazed. No wild animal he chased escaped him in deep thick woods, for he could track a scent. . . . But once he'd seen Odysseus after nineteen years, Argus died, seized by the fatal clutch of Death. . .
