There are 8 uniformed services. Only 5 are full time military, 6 are armed.

Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Space Force are the five military branches.

Coast Guard is the other armed force.

PHS and NOAA are the two unarmed uniform services. Both use Navy officer ranks, neither have any enlisted personnel.
