I find the buckmark more comfortable to hold but I like the look of the ruger better, and I shoot the ruger better

I have a 22/45 lite, its pretty good, but nowhere near as good as a buckmark, from the factory at least.

I have the Ruger III 22/45. Bitch to strip, and mine would not run worth a shit till I changed the extractor and got rid of the mag saftey thing. Buckmarks are sweet.

Depends on how far you want to take the pistol as far as customization goes. If you want just a plain jain relatively stock gun that will shoot quarter sized groups at 20 yds, get the Buckmark. If you want to add all sorts of whiz bang cool stuff to get a neat looking gun that will shoot pancake sized groups at 20 yds, get the Ruger.
Just kidding about the Ruger. Both are great, highly accurate pistols. The Ruger just has more aftermarket options. |

If it was about 10 years ago, I would've said Ruger. Ruger turned an excellent gun into an overcomplicated and poorly machined piece of junk. |

Find an MK2. They are fantastic guns. I have literally tens of thousands of rounds thru mine. The guy that sold it to me bought a buckmark, about a year later he was asking if I wanted to sell. My best friend has a MKIII, Its accurate as hell, but a bitch to strip, even by Ruger standards.

Buckmark all the way.
The trigger is superior, safety and slide release controls are easily manipulated. In short, the Buckmark's ergo's blow the Ruger out of the water.And good bbls. to boot. It's a no brainer in my book. |

I've had both but sold my buckmark - the first time I've ever been dissatisfied with a browning product. The first trip to the range the front sight shot loose - no problem just reinstalled with loc-tite. Then a plastic part broke within the first month and it had to be warrantied. Even after repair it was very picky with ammo. Yes, the rugers are a ***** to strip but the more you do it the easier it gets. The trigger DID suck on my 22/45 (mkIII) until I removed the mag disconnect and replaced the hammer bushing with one from a mkII ($5/10mins). Removing the disconnect eliminates a few steps in field stripping too. I've yet to feed the ruger anything it wouldn't eat. They were both very accurate and although I did like the ergonomics of the browning the malfunctions were unacceptable. ...a lurking '13er's 2cents - take it for what its worth

I like the looks of the buckmark but have never owned one.
The Ruger is hard to beat..at least the old mark I's and mark II's. I don't care for the loaded chamber do hicky on the new ones. A good friend of mine owne's several of the newer model Rugers and none of them shoot as well as my Bull barrel mark II.

Love my rugers. I own both and the buckmarks are good but the rugers are more reliable for me. Break down is not hard. Don't know why people keep saying that.It's almost instant and very easy

They don't feel the same in your hand. Try both at the store and see what you think fits you best.
We did that and found the Buck Mark to be a better fit for both of us. We wanted the Ruger but decided that the Buck Mark was for us. And we're very happy with that. But you might prefer the Ruger. Both are very competent .22 pistols. Get the one that feels better in your hand. And then learn how to strip and clean it. |

I might only jam once per 10 round magazine. My Buckmark doesn't have these issues. |

I owned a mK1 an Mk2 and a Buckmark, I just sold the buckmark to get a Mk3 22/45 lite mainly for the threaded barrel. I like the light weight, but the trigger is not close to what the Browning had, the mag safety makes releasing the mags a chore, and lastly I am not a fan of the loaded chamber indicator. Part of me regrets letting the buckmark go.

I have a Ruger Mk1 that I only keep because it was my fathers, I shoot either a SR-22 (nice little .22) or a S&W M41. I have a friend who owns a Buckmark and likes it.
So I'd go with the Browning.

I'm shocked at the poll results. I have owned a MkII and Buckmark. The Buckmark has much better ergos and was WAY more reliable with any ammo. It's also easier to clean and needs cleaning less often, and has a better stock trigger. And it has a nicely machined frame, rather than a stamped piece of sheet metal. It's like comparing a Kia to a BMW, but at the same price.
