AT&T fixed internet isn't available in our AO which is incredibly annoying. Our service through Never Throttle was accidently shut off by them while we were on vacation and three weeks later, they're still working on getting it turn back on. In the mean time I signed up with No Limit Data on their 800GB plan since both my wife and I are working from home. It's also been nothing but issues. It'll work the day we get a new SIM and then the next day, nothing. I don't know if AT&T is doing something to these accounts but it's incredibly frustrating and I'm sick of dealing with these third party providers. This is our third in a year (OTR, Never Throttle, and No Limit Data) and they all suck.

As of right now I am using my phones hot spot to do all of my internet needs including school. Can't bring myself to try another one. Still waiting for starlink to happen. I tried T-Mobile with their tower being less than a mile from me and got sub par speeds, 3 mbps. View Quote At .1 miles, any chance you could get a neighbor to allow you to set up ubiquiti nanobeams or similar and pay him a little rent for putting one up on a 4x4 in his yard? Or just offer to pay for his internet and then split it off for you to use. Unless he's a power user or the connection is bad it should be more than enough. |

Well, fuck. Have been using OTR successfully up til now. All of a sudden the last 2 months at&t has cut us off at 315GB of use. Nothing OTR can do about it. No limit data has an at&t plan with 500gb, considering that. Would use their tmobile plan but can't use my nighthawk with tmo apparently.

I will try that but i went ahead and signed up for the calyx institute at $150/mo (they have a cheaper yearly option but I want to make sure it works... and maybe in a year I'll be close to starlink... haha, right). I've never heard of anyone getting booted from calyx as it takes advantage of an old government contract requiring sprint to provide service. I know I have sprint coverage, I'm just not sure how good it is. Maybe it can roam to tmobile. Anyway at $150 with the Hotspot included (that I can usb tether to my router) I'm not out much if it doesn't work. |

For those with no facebook account can you please give a short summary? View Quote The gist appears to be you can call 18555931430 and add an ipad unlimited plan for what some people are saying is $20 a month. Some replies state that the seller is reluctant to let them know about the plan, though. Apparently some people did it with new accounts from AT&T and some did it from existing accounts. I do know in the very recent past (about the time OTR swapped from AT&T to Tmobile, so 4-5 months ago?) AT&T killed a LOT of the Ipad plans, namely the ones that were in non-Ipad devices. So like any of these programs and companies, YMMV and it may not last long. |

I didn't get the latest notice on the OTR change either. My annual contract expires in December but judging by this latest announcement my plan will expire 3 months early. Time to change for good.
eta: Tried the 855 number and got an error message. But Ed Sellers gives a good explanation of what he did by going direct and getting the real plans with better performance for much less than resellers like OTR have been charging. |

Got the OTR email today and tried to order the new sim online, which wouldn't complete the order. Called OTR to get it processed, and the rep told me to try again so the system could keep track of it better. It happend again so she processed it manually and then explained that the online order link didn't recognize annual members and couldn't process the order without manual intervention. . I have 3 months left on my annual contract, so no charges until the expiration date. I just bought some time to find another provider.
Looking for suggestions for service provider whose sim I can use on a Mofi 4500. I checked Ed Sellers post on the FB posting. In one response he said it has to be used in a cellualr capable Ipad. The only way to change over to a new IMEI is to use DC unlocker and generate another IMEI. Is that possible with a Mofi4500 ? Would prefer to avoid doing this. Also, if it works as a post paid service I'll have to setup an account with ATT to get this done which I'd prefer to avoid. I checked Calyx but I cant use their sim in the Mofi without violating the TOS, so thats out. They are out of stock of the top end hotspot that can tether to a router via cable as well. |

Issue I have is weird with it though. Once or twice a day, usually if I have been using a large amount of data for a while, any new "connection" wont load until I reset the MOFI. If I am on youtube, I can keep watching a whole video even if it hadnt buffered the whole thing. On twitch the video will cut out but the chat will keep going. I can even google search usually but clicking any link wont load. The limited searching I have done about it makes me think ATT blocks your connection if it sees heavy use. |

View Quote Its AT&T per their faq so they're just reselling an at&t tablet plan. They also admit you'll be throttled to 480p for video. Their terms also tell you that you can be terminated for using an unapproved IMEI, which will probably be their catchall for terminating any heavy users at some point. It seems like all of the at&t resellers are now backtracking to around 300gb of data from "unlimited". When 4GAS fell from grace a year or two ago they started throttling HARD at 50gb, and I suspect that will start soon with the other resellers. They're reselling the same plan OTR probably will be. Given how touchy AT&T has been expect them not to last long, but i can't imagine OTR will last much longer either. I know I've said it a few times but I don't understand why if at&t and T-mobile don't want sellers to resell unlimited internet, then why are they selling these massive tablet plan bundles to the resellers? Its not like they're sneaking just a few in here or there, it's literally their business plan and widely advertised. |

View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: I have the older Franklin R850- connected to a TP-Link TL-WR802N, to a router I don't recall, Linksys something. Quadrupled the speed and lots more range, been on Calyx for years that way. I have a good Sprint signal at that place, had tried it where signal was not so good and speed was poor. I figure if you have a solid Sprint or T Mobile signal you should be GTG, and it literally never goes down unless the tower hiccups or we lose power long enough for the UPS to die. As it is, got a steady 30-40 down most of the time. Good hint. My router should be able to usb tether but I found one on Amazon open box for $22. I have been helping two neighbors stay online as we bounce between providers and at least one of them will need it for their router if I don't. One more thing I did, to avoid antennas on that cheap R850, was find the best window in the house for signal, then CAT5 the TP Link to the router in a more central location. Took a while back then to set up, but ended up with excellent reception on the R850 and good coverage wireless and hardwired where needed that way. We can stream 3 TV's at once and whatever else needed. Hope you get a decent reception, and it works out. At my house they were putting in fiber down the road, stopped less than a mile away with only two houses between me and the termination, and said the 10 potential customers if they continued would never give any return and done. I can't get DSL even. Really lucky to have the sprint coverage or would be up shit creek. Internet has become nearly as important as power it seems..... |

If anyone on here has Tmobile for cell phone service, PM me, I was tipped off to a really clever way to use it for home internet without using the hotspot function on a phone.

Quoted: Agreed on limited lifespan of all the resellers with AT&T. I'll keep looking. Going direct to AT&T for their service looks like the only true option with their network, but tethering an iPad to my router via USB would be the only way to workaround the IMEI issue, but then data usage would be the giveaway. At this point Visible or Calyx are my remaining choices. Hurry up Elon. View Quote Well, that isn't the only workaround. I am running a WE826 with a sierra modem that had some "magic" done to the IMEI. I'm on a $20 postpaid iPad plan directly from AT&T. I am not a heavy user though, we only run about 100-150gb/month. |

I just picked up the Unlimitedville AT&T option. It's SCREAMING fast and the modem/router MOFI is solid equipment.
Expensive though. $200/month |

Quoted: Some good profit on their part. They're just reselling a postpaid unlimited iPad plan that you can get for $20/month. View Quote My guess is they use the high price to keep AT&T at bay as their overall usage probably isn't nearly as high as a company with tons of subscribers like OTR. There definitely is no reason to believe it is any faster than any other at&t reseller would be, other than unlimitedville probably has the sense to turn off "streamsaver" and the mofi is higher quality than most. |

Well done OP. I could get 3x the speed but it costs $75 mo. Pass.

As a side note to those of us swapping to calyx, i found mifi8000s (their older hotspots) on eBay for $50 a piece for the sprint versions. For $50 I went ahead and ordered it.
The Mifi compared to the Linkzone 2 has carrier aggregation and support for more connections. It does not however have coverage for all of the tmobile bands which the linkzone has. It is capable of much higher speeds than the Linkzone but maybe not in practice. We will see. I did not see any increase in speed going from an 1120 to a mofi with tmobile previously, but I'll have a backup. Neither of the sprint units has an ethernet port so you'll have to use a workaround to get it to your router, be that tethering or use of a network extender set to bridge. Many other users suggest that provisioning isn't a major problem, even if you arent supposed to swap hotspots with their units. My calyx package is scheduled to arrive tomorrow so we will see. The mifi will be here next week. |

View Quote Oh, I forgot to mention the mifi 8000 does have antenna support. I actually took the external off of my 1120 as it was hitching onto a slower band. Regardless of otr being jackoffs, my tmobile connection has been rock solid aside from literally one day, which was so shocking I thought I had been cut off. I'll be sad to see it go. |

Nice, I may have to pick one up, but I think I’ll wait for the Oct 1 Tmo/Sprint merger finalization to see how they are going to handle tower/freq sharing. I might be able to go right back to the ol 1120 and tmo tower I’ve been using. I’ve also had consistently good speeds with them through OTR, but I’m not paying those dudes $90 a month for a shitty data limited ATT connection prone to random shut offs if you use too much data, |

Here is some info to help some of you out.
I've been an OTR customer since fall of 2018 (original AT&T plan with a nighthawk MR1100). I have been through all of the struggles that everyone else has. This spring, I switched to the OTR Pink (T-Mobile) plan, and speeds were much better at my house (tower .5 miles away). I was averaging 120/15. Then March rolled around with all of their contract BS, and T-Mobile issues. What happened is that T-Mobile banned the Nighthawk routers, and were doing network sweeps to blacklist them. Someone from an LTE group on Facebook helped me out with all of this. They explained what was happening, and how to get around it. https://www.facebook.com/groups/192712915507212 I paid the $29 to use DC Unlocker to change the IMEI on my nighthawk to that of an iPad (IMEI found with a simple Google search). Things were back up and running like normal. Every once in a while, my nighthawk would disconnect, but a reboot would fix it. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago. I received the same email as many, that the T-Mobile plan is going away at the end of September. Due to the fact that T-Mobile is so much better at my house, I've been scouring everywhere for a good plan to land on. I actually stumbled onto a plan offered by T-Mobile directly. The Magenta Plus tablet only plan for $75/month post-paid, which includes unlimited regular data, and also unlimited HD stream data (think Netflix, YouTube, etc). This is more than likely the same plan that some of these resellers are selling us. I signed up, got my SIM last week. Unfortunately, it took about 5 days for T-Mobile support to get the HD video stream enabled on the plan, but they eventually did. I now have the same exact service I saw with the OTR T-Mobile plan. But this is direct with T-Mobile, which means I can actually call a support number, and don't deal with all of the reseller BS. I'm testing it as thoroughly as possible, to see if they throttle my speeds at all. I've used 52.4 GB in the last two days, and no throttling yet. Guessing I'll have a good idea by next week. The big kicker to this, is you have to hack the Nighthawk, so it looks like a tablet to the carrier. No carrier will give a hotspot device unlimited data. In the meantime, I'm going to activate the OTR new Blue Evo plan SIM they sent me, and keep both accounts active for October, in the event my T-Mobile direct plan gets shut down. More to come on all of this in the coming weeks... |

Updates:
I'm working on setting up another system at my remote shipping container so I have two Mofi 4500s now. And as of today, three SIM card plans. Two of those are from OTR. I got the notification that my T-Mobile plan was ending and the replacement AT&T sim yesterday. The Tmo plan is still active and I haven't activated the AT&T one yet. I'm going to try OTR with my old Mofi 4500 Sim 4 at my property. I will get the AT&T activated soon which kill the Tmo with them. The third plan is with NoLimitData. It is the TMobile plan with them. I have that one activated and am using it in my new Mofi 4500 Sim 7 for our home network. This one picks up band 66 and 71. I've got it band locked on 66 currently. I have to point to a different tower to try out 71. DL speeds have been up and down today in the 10-20 meg range. Fingers crossed that 71 bumps the speed some. I need to get my tall ladder back home and I'll climb up on the roof and point it to the other tower in the next few days. These monthly data plans are starting to add up on my CC bill each month. Two cellular game cams, one for my car, one for my iPad, and two for these fixed wireless experiments. CHRIS |

I have had no limit data on t mobile for 4-5 months now and it’s been great. Did have to contact CS once due to it being down and a real person sent me a email and we had it going again in a hour.
