After the assassination/murder of Gdansk mayor Pawel Adamowicz in January...

A moment of silence was observed followed by a hearing of Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence” vocal cover performed by David Draiman of "Disturbed"

Thousands gathered in town squares across Poland.

You really are fine @JAFFE, because everywhere I go, everything I see, think or do. My Lord and yours watches over me.

Do you think he would frown on me continuing my drunken night thoughts and post a couple songs that illustrate that? Since I know my failings and fears being mortal and alone? And some words that I do not think or do these things when sober in daytime? I'm really not trying to call you out Sir because I realize we're just mere mortals talking here. But you kindly and VERY respectfully reminded me of my place tonight. And I would very much appreciate your input!

No worries.  The words are uplifting.  The music, by itself, is deeply sad, to me.  I should have realized others would think differently.

We bleed the same brother. I found a LOT of comfort in the words and music. When they were sung for my Father at his funeral a couple years ago. It was as I was taught after a lifetime's teaching in the Methodist Church and it did give me peace. Because I know where he is. Back to the Stars where we came from and for that I'm always thankful.

I do freely admit that I have a problem and play the victim when I should not.

But I'm working on being a better man and not being so fatalistic like this:

My problem is I have to work on good habits, Like I have a bunch also! Eating healthy, exercising and going out in the sun. I'm a paragim? I do it all, the good and the bad.
90% of the time I'm cool and stay out of dui range, but now I'm in the drink. So I'll say thanks for the input and sign off!

While doing analysis on some malware/ransomware last year I found a variation of this song being played in a loop once the ransom message as popped.  All your stuff is encrypted, pay us, and here, listen to this...

The one in the ransomware seemed a bit more haunting, at least as I recall... Just haunting AF...

The similarities are more obvious in the original version by Dolly.

Dolly Parton - Little Sparrow

Makes sense though. The folk song going home originated in Appalachia where she grew up so she'd probably heard it before and adapted it into her song.

Since we're doing depressing folk music.

That’s a great shout, especially given the tragedy surrounding it.  Two exceptional artists, gone.  Shit.

EDIT:  That’s the first time I’ve listened to the song since Chester killed himself.  For someone who seemed to understand suicide so well and truly understood the damage it did and the agony it brought to everyone connected to it, it’s just so hard to imagine him doing it.  Incredibly sad stuff

Didn't see a video besides lyric ones on YouTube...
They made a decent amount of melancholy trakcs back in the day.
