For a bunch of Liberals, they certainly love to restrict peoples' Liberty.  "Forced interaction with vibrancy"

The bitch that proposed it needs to go back to the shithole country from which she came.

Interesting that existing company cafeterias are grandfathered in.

So, it'll just be another disincentive for new businesses considering coming to the city.

It will be a pay to play zoning scam for restaurant permits adjacent to new office construction, of which there is a ton going on in SF.

This really makes no sense to me. I doubt the stated motivation for this, there has to be something else on the horizon. It's just bizarre.

I think it's extortion. Pay us monies or this will happen to you. Either way is entertaining.

Like everything the Left does, if they get that passed it will be "a good first step" and next thing they'll crack down on existing company cafeterias until they get them all closed, then it will be government owned and run lunch counters with government mandated menus. Then it will be banning all food on company premises. Then it will be mandatory attendance at the .gov lunch counters. The left is relentless, the march towards their socialist utopia never stops.

Because lunchboxes were never a thing, and reusable ice packs don't exist.

Eating lunch out more than 1 or 2x a month is not in my budget ($ or calories).

I already work in a field where being out in a truck all day in hot ass temps is a thing.  I hate being in the office.

You'll get to improve their lot in life with your pocketbook, cell phone, and laptop when they mug you on your lunch break.
I imagine the local restaurants will raise prices once they have a "captive" crowd forced to eat nearby their work place as well.

Thats easy enough to fix. Just move out of SF proper into adjoining cities that would love to have the $$$.
Eventually even the Lefty companies will tire of the Socialist nonsense and think of the bottom line.

San Francisco wins again. I assume that this is just an extortion attempt but I hope they pass it. Forced interaction the rich and vibrant community. That's a good thing.

A proposal introduced Tuesday to ban employee cafeterias in future San Francisco office buildings represents more than an effort to boost the city's restaurant scene, backers say.

"People will have to go out and (eat) lunch with the rest of us," Aaron Peskin, a San Francisco supervisor who co-sponsored the proposal, told The San Francisco Examiner.

"This is also about a cultural shift," Supervisor Ahsha Safai, who proposed the ban, told The San Francisco Chronicle. "We don't want employees biking or driving into their office, staying there all day long and going home. This is about getting people out of their office, interacting with the community and adding to the vibrancy of the community."
