Quoted: I didn't want to go into Syria either, but once we committed to clearing out ISIS and inserted some ground troops I wanted to finish the job. I could've been supportive of Trump's plan here if there had actually been a plan with a gradual drawdown, milestones that must be met, and not doing so because Turkey of all places threatened us. It's just absurd to bend to Erdogan on something like this - - especially when we know he's going to go full genocide on the Kurds, and they've been a strategic partner for a very long time. Why would any group ever trust the USA again? This entire situation makes us look feckless and weak. It reminds me of when Obama was in office. View Quote |

Hmmmm...It's always been my understanding that ISIS was started by an Iraqi Air Force Colonel and Baathist who was a logistical mastermind and saw opportunity in using the religious fervor among the foreign peasants who floated around looking for work. He had connections to AQI, did time with some AQI, but was never in AQI. Al Queda actually didn't want to be associated with ISIS and they spent a great deal of effort trying to eradicate each other in Syria. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Call me crazy but I think getting out of Syria and a deep troop reduction in Afghanistan is real winning and if Gen. Hand-Grenade and the saber rattlers in Congress take offence then, well, fuck them.
Let's put it all in perspective.... Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens, according to statistics released by Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa. If those numbers are correct, it translates to 4,380 Americans murdered annually by illegal aliens. That's 21,900 since Sept. 11, 2001. Even if those numbers are off by 25% illegals kill more Americans in a year than OBL or the Japanese did at Pearl Harbor. Let that sink in. Now, where should our troop strength be concentrated.....On our border or in some sand-land? |

Mattis is a Democrat. Fuck him. He may have been a good general, but he is shit at politics. The irony here is how quiet the media were when Obama pulled 300,000 men out of Iraq overnight. Quoted: FRE and Jihadists took advantage of each other, back and forth from 2004-2011, when they blended. Chicken/egg. One thing is certain: they ain’t Baathists no mo. They jihadists. View Quote The precursor to ISIS was Zarqawi and his little jihadi group. Zarqawi and his people jumped at the idea of taking on the infidels in Iraq, and even had people in Iraq before our ground troops entered. They were a significant part of the early insurgency, and had enough success that by the end of '04/early '05 they caught the eye of Bin Laden, and Zarqawi then pledged his allegiance to Al-Qaida. That's when AQI was essentially formed. I'm going to skip the middle part because Zarqawi getting smoked is really the most relevant factor of the time period between '05 -' 10. That and Zarqawi pissing off all of the non-insane Sunnis. Anyway, a few years go by and we fucking obliterate most of AQI. A lot of the foreigners that came in because of Zarqawi lose interest or are dead, and within a few years the group becomes a lot more Iraqi, brings in a lot of former Baathists and top Saddam people, and then AL-Baghdad eventually takes control. That's the short and very simplified version of how we got to AL-Baghdadi, and from there ISIS kicked off their little caliphate gimmick but it was focused on Iraq. Once Assad became destabilized they couldn't believe their good fortune (they were using Syria to hide out at times anyway), and decided to fill the vacuum left by the erosion of the sovereignty and control of the Syrian government. |
