Just finished out second severe storm. It rocked and rolled pretty good for a while. Thoughts out for the folks in Greenfield.

Awful. My wife grew up in Greenfield. Sounds like her family still up that way are all okay, but some old classmates of hers lost their homes.

Us in the Boone/Ames area really caught a break. Tornadoes all around (north of Boone, near Nevada, to the south, etc.) and all we got was a typical summer thunderstorm. Watching the radar, the line of storms just split around Boone and Ames. Crazy.

Sad news for Greenfield.
BTW, Greenfield was the filming site for the 1971 Norman Lear movie, "Cold Turkey".  In the movie, Greenfield was named "Eagle Rock".

My camper and the campground Dakens lake had no damage. I think the tornado passed about 10 miles south of us here.

When my camper was hit by the derecho it basically exploded and pushed the whole frame about 10 ft.

@Mindfull

Heard anything about the Iowa Aviation Museum just north of Greenfield? One of the meteorologists had said the tornado hit the airport, but I've not heard confirmation.

They were landing medivac choppers at the airport and transporting critical patients to them, so it can’t have been that destroyed I would think.

SE MN.  Storms came through here. My weather station clocked the highest wind speed at 72 mph.  Had some penny sized hail. Definitely going to be some localized flooding. Rain keeps pouring down. Looks like several trees are down.  Still under a tornado watch but looks like that threat has passed. A tornado hit 15 miles north of here waiting on damage reports.  Hopping this heavy rain stops soon.

Prayers going out to all the people affected especially down in Iowa.

Roughly, where are you? Don't need specifics. I have friends in the Rochester area who haven't said anything about about receiving any damage.

It sounds like you got is a bit worse than my area. We only got high winds(50mph) with very heavy rains. No hail that I am aware.
I listen to the local storm chasers and they'd spotted a cloud with some rotation east of Medford, traveling east up through Rice county. Basically moving from Medford to Red Wing.
There was also a similar cell moving from north of Albert Lea towards Ellendale.

Southern Minnesota got lucky, unfortunately Iowa took the brunt of the storm.

We just had high winds and torrential downpours last night. Flag pole across from my house had some major flex in it and the wind was out of the north and then the west and then the north and then… you get the idea.

This piece of paper from Greenfield was found in Ames. That's 66 miles away as the crow flies.

Friends house in Greenfield.
Someone found his dog 3 blocks away from the house.

I probably shouldn't post these in respect for him.
