We get a real every year. Fraiser Fir. My daughters are 4 and two years old, so I cut two little slivers off the bottom of the tree every year and use my crafty woodburning kit to make them a Christmas ornament. Usually the year and their name and a holiday pic, wreath, snoman, snoflakes , They think its neat. And they get to keep a piece of each Christmas this way. Pretty cheesy I know. But they like it. And its the reason we get a real tree every year. View Quote |

We have a fake one. I don't fuss with taking the lights down or taking it apart. Just drag it down into the corner of a basement closet every year. Wife still gets the production of decorating it every year, but my job in the whole thing is really fucking easy.

Fake pre-lighted tree for me....anything to make it easier to put up and take down I'm game for....but I'm also not that big on the Xmas decorations to begin with. Spending time with the family is the only part of Xmas I really care about....and I don't require decorations for that.
To clarify....my wife puts up enough decorations for 2 houses, so it doesn't really matter what my opinion is |

You can carry it, Daddy. It's so pretty, Daddy. 14 plus feet of Eastern White Pine goodness, selected and cut by my kids. Damn. Your stuff is sitting on my desk, I totally forgot. I'll get it out today. |

Most of my stuff like guitar amps, bulky shooting supplies, etc. was relegated to a storage unit for more than the last decade. Now there's just more seasonal stuff vying for the same storage space. This thread is timely. We just moved the TV over to put up the tree. |

LMFAO "Holiday Tree"
If you're going to buy a Christmas Tree, I say get a real one. We had real ones when we lived in our 3rd floor apartment, and now in the house. No excuse other than the one guy who's kids allergic not to. Quit being lazy. |

Trying to decide if I want to get a real or fake Holiday Tree. I like the smell of the real ones but they are messy. Was thinking about getting a high end holiday tree that rotates instead. View Quote Get a Christmas tree instead - real douglas fir, buy the disposal bag that you put down under the skirt when you set your tree. |

When we would have a good frosty night my dad would set the sprinklers up in the backyard to make me a winter wonderland. I am 58 now and I can close my eyes and still feel/hear the frozen grass crunching under my shoes and feel the cold on my face. It was truly amazing to me. He was a good man, a proud WWII Navy man and an awesome dad. RIP I miss you. |

We've had a fake Christmas tree for the past 10 or so years. No more mess and clean up is a breeze.
Having a puppy who liked to chew on branches had prompted us to do away with real trees. |

Fake.
All the good Christmas tree farms around here closed up. Along with my kids growing up, no need for the tradition of going out, finding the "perfect" tree, cutting it down and bringing it home. What my wife would do is go out the day after Christmas and buy a fake tree on sale for 50-80% off and we would use that the next year. At one time in our old house, we had 8 trees all decorated and lighted. Holy shit would she go overboard! Now, we have the main tree and 1 or 2 others in various places around the house. The downside is that now she's obsessed with decorating our one mile gravel road..... Last year it was just decorations. This year: decorations plus a bunch of cedar trees with blinking lights. Woman. Can't live with them, can't kill them! |

We ended up getting a fake "Christmas" Tree for about a C-note.
Didn't think everyone would be so up and arms about "Holiday Tree". There are more holidays this time of year than just Christmas. |
