Anyone seen any dies for loading this cartridge?
I have my name down for a barrel, when available. I have 100 rounds of Wolf. With "basic" brass, it should be a matter of a pass thru a FL die and trim to length. I need to pull and measure a bullet or 2. If the bullet diameter of .364 is correct, it should be easy to take .366 bullets and run them through a .364 sizer die (Lee will custom order for $38). Midway has some blem .366", 286 gr. bullets on sale for $.42 ea. Not cheap, but not too bad. .366", 286 gr Not sure if that will work with OAL, but might be worth a try. Could be a fun project. |

Can anybody compare the ballistics of the 9x39 to 338 Spectre?
I wonder in the Longniz (so?) Universal Magazines would work? If they handle the steep taper of 7.62x39 and the 458 SOCOM I'd be a bit surprised if they didn't. Also, we NEED AK barrels, bolts, and mags for these. |

Then you're probably best off coming back to this thread in 2021 at the earliest. We're looking at 2019 realistically to get a 9x39 AR barrel, more than a single 20-round box of ammo at $1/round, and any idea on what magazine is really needed. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I know of a guy who owns a gun parts company who is getting 9x39 barrels right now. He has posted in this thread. I also know of a place I got some ammo for significantly less than a buck a round. All of which was posted in this thread. |

Updates:
I was told we should get prototype 9x39 magazines in two weeks. Stay tuned. As soon as we get one and it works we will film and release a full auto mag dump video. ( saving my lunch money for theses ...) I talked to a second source for ammunition who is also importing 9x39 ball ammo. No pricing or delivery dates were given. We will be release pricing on the 9x39 non suppressed upper and rifle next week. The will be ready to ship next week also. Next week we have two magazine reviews scheduled. Finally: Everyone who ordered a barrel should have gotten an update from me. If you did not please PM or email. Ralph ~~~~~~~~~~ |

I am, of course, going to test out every manufacturer's oddball caliber mags myself too. I was thinking that the 7.62x39 follower in either a grendel or 5.45 magazine might be just the ticket. |

Anybody coming up with an AK type yet? seems sacrilege to chamber an AR in this caliber
|
|
So what's the conclusion on the type of mags 9x39 uppers will use? I'm in Florida which is likely gonna get a high capacity ban before the 9x39 rifles are here, so I need to stock up on the right type of magazine before that happens. If it's AR mags, will a regular Pmag work or do I need one of those funky ASC mags?

I just joined the .300 Blackout ranks on Monday when I picked up a Sig MCX Hybrid in .300 Blackout. It's brace folds to a very compact package.
So my interest is really piqued with this 9X39 cartridge. The Wolf ammo SHOT show video says a 278 grain bullet. I am wondering if anybody is going to make a supersonic bullet for it. I cast and I have MiHec moulds which can produce hollow points. A 250 grainish hollow point cast .366" boolit traveling right at 1,000 fps could look impressive if shot into gel...I would think. |

Quoted: Tried them in a 20 round 7.62x39 ASC mag, only could fit 12 rounds in it and they were a bit of a bitch to get out but it may work fine if you downloaded to say 10. As for a 20 round 5.56 PMAG, got 3 or 4 in and it bulged out the sides of the mag by like about an eighth of an inch on each side. Definitely not gonna work My money still rests on 6.5 grendel mags. VSS/AS VAL/SR-3/etc mags are all relatively straight with a similar curve to them. Case wise 9x39 is ~ .421 inches vs 6.5G at .432 before it bottlenecks down so I doubt 9 thousandths of an inch are going to make a difference (7.62x39 is .394 FWIW) VSS/AS VAL http://i.imgur.com/QNH9729.jpg 6.5 Grendel https://www.shopalexanderarms.com/img-E-Lander_6.5_Grendel_17-round_magazine.jpg View Quote 5.56mm mags WILL NOT WORK.....so don't even think about it. I have been running the ARs in for testing using 7.62x39mm ASC mags with up to 20 rounds in them. They are not ideal. What is truly needed is a proper dedicated mag. Period. Folks are working on them. |

Here's something I saw that makes the wait a lot harder. But at least it gave me a cool idea for an AK9. Just need an AK103 or a 104, a 9x39 barrel, and magazines that will work (oh boy). Can't wait for this cartridge to be out in the wild and have stuff chambered for it. |
|
So much build up and hype then... pfft. I was all set to be an early adopter but haven't seen much other than a busted open box of ammo. No websites have info, as of now, and 8+ months is a long time in the modern world. I've moved on to a Mk12 Mod H build and may revisit the 9x at a later date.
