I really, really want to build an MP5. I did by a 20 ton press recently...
Looking forward to this thread. |

Tag because I have always been curious about how this was done.

The rifle stock is just for looks View Quote SB released the aluminum folding brace recently. So I ordered the aluminum one. Ill swap the plastic brace I have on my HK53 for the aluminum one and its a win win situation. Well for the most part. Its pretty gay I cant just make the thing with a real stock. But whatever |
|
|
|
When you get ready to sell that stock, I might know a guy whose pistol is becoming an sbr any day
|
|
will you post YouTube videos of your build progress?
or at least post in the HKPro FB page... |
|
What was the price like for the kit in comparison to the ones offered by HK Parts?

But I think its alright. Im an extra 50 into it because it didnt come with a rear sight assembly in the kit, but I got a decent deal really so I cant complain much |

Fuck it, If you leave the stock on it you might as well leave the giggle switch in place also.

Sub’d. Are you going to be grafting the cut sections or complete demill?

I love your work.
Looking forward to seeing the build progress. |
|
It is a way easier build if the barrel is intact and you don't have to drill it for the pin. What are you going to use to bend and weld the flat? Please post pics.

View Quote Honestly when I drilled and pinned the barrel on the 53 that was one of the easiest steps. Im not sure what the dude hooked me up with at Fastenal. But he must have gave me a great bit and the best cutting paste there is on the planet. It ate right through the trunion and barrel like butter. It was some green pasty stuff. Shit was awesome Getting the flat into a receiver right.... That was the biggest pain in the ass. Im hoping this LSC flat makes things much easier than the SW flat I used for the 53 |

Quoted: Check out Techsmith for a collapsible Tailhook brace View Quote I already have the SB brace on the way. They redesigned them and are now using an aluminum backing plate instead of plastic. So ill be swapping my 53's plastic brace for the aluminum one just to be a bit safer about it. The plastic one will reside on the MP5 |

Quoted: My newest clone came with the new aluminum brace mount. It’s more stout. View Quote To be clear I haven't had a problem with the plastic one in terms of the 53 beating it up. Ive got roughly 300 or 400 down the tube. 300 blk out is fuckin expensive I did pop the latch being dumb with it however. They hooked me right up no problem though. Sent me 2 just in case I manage to do it again |

So I always make videos and shit of my builds. They've always been made for Instagram and are 1 minute short.
My Instagram no longer gets any traffic. Would you guys rather see a more in depth video? Or would I be wasting my time putting together a long drawn out build video Ill add in im not a gunsmith and I may or may not be building one the 100% correct way |

I'm in the process of bringing one back to life as well. The receiver sections I have were demilled in a way that I will be able to keep all the hk roll marks with the exception of the date code. That may be able to be saved though.
|
|
SB just updated their Aluminum Mp5 brace try and get the new beveled one. I had one of the first ones and lock up on the stock SUCKED it flopped back and forth and the aluminum chewed up the plastic button in about 5 closings.
They sent me new design and it locks up tight and button is surviving better on mine so far. |
