Quoted: Shinedown butchered that song and made a fucking mockery of it. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Simple Man by Shinedown played And boy did I have to fight back the tears. Just feeling like your trying to carry the world on your shoulders and/or that you feel like you didn't meet all of your parents expectations. And in the Song the he sings about his mother telling him she just wants him to have a good life, none of that other stuff matters. Shinedown butchered that song and made a fucking mockery of it. Have to disagree on that. |

Reminds me of my now gone youth of the 70s/80s in Florida.
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Tuesday's Gone - 3/7/1976 - Winterland (Official) Reminds me of the death of my Father last year after 10 years of Progressive Dementia. Tom Petty - Room At The Top (Video) Reminds me of an old girlfriend. I’ve seen her public profile on FaceBook and would love to reach out just to say hello but I know even such an innocent gesture would likely just cause grief in my life and hers. If The Phone Doesn't Ring, It's Me Jimmy Buffett2 Reminds me of how brief our time in this world really is. If you are waiting for the right moment, it’s now. Bob Dylan - Not Dark Yet (Official HD Video) |

Two that really stand out for an emotional connection…
1) He Stopped Loving Her Today - George Jones 2) Fast Moving Train - Restless Heart. |

One that surprised me was Willie Nelson's "The Scientist". Came on at the very end of a movie I was watching late one night during the credits

Taxi - Harry Chapin . Reminds me of a guy I was a vollie firefighter with and I smile everytime I here it. We got hit with a blizzard and a bunch of us volunteered to stay at the firehouse for a couple of days. My buddy ( fire Lieutenant) was older than me and I guess he didn't want to be snowed in with his wife/kids ( wife would bitch about his drinkling). He stayed at the firehouse and smoked camel no filters and did his best to empty the TV room keg. This song came on the radio and this guy gave Harry Chapin a run for his money singing into his beer, totally out of character for him as he was a bit of a curmegeon. - He died in his early 40's from cancer.
Stuck in the middle with you - Steeler's Wheel. - Reminds me of a guy I worked with for years that was a bit of a character. He was singing along to this at a work social function being his jolly old self. - A couple of us referred to him as Mr. Blonde after that, referencing the reservoir dogs scene with that song playing in the background. - He died of Leukemia. Reservoir Dogs - Mr. Blonde cop torture scene F*ck Cancer. |

Holes in the Floor of Heaven fucks me up. It came out the same month and year my mom died. She was only 46.
The local country station played it for us during the time we were driving from the church to the cemetery. They even mentioned her name and gave condolences on air. Pretty neat that they did that. |

Slow dancing with wife 2.0 when this was released back in the late 90's;
Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds - 41 (Live) As well as this one which was released in the 80's: Simply Red - Holding Back The Years (Official 4K Remaster) We still dance in the dark when it comes on....helps us remember how much we still love each other 27 years later. |

Dealing with the mental illness of a loved one. The drastic change in personality. Wondering if they would ever come back. This song hit differently.

You generally only find it by listening to a lot of Stapleton. I haven't heard it on the radio because I assume they don't want to make the entire listening area cry. It really is a great song but damn, it hits hard. |

I liked this one when I was 18 (that was close to half a century ago). Absolutely HATED hippies, but I kinda liked this song:

Quoted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G23iLGhh9lo We chase misprinted lies We face the path of time And yet I fight, and yet I fight This battle all alone No one to cry to No place to call home Ooh Ooh-ooh Ooh Ooh-ooh My gift of self is raped My privacy is raked And yet I find, and yet I find Repeating in my head If I can't be my own I'd feel better dead Ooh Ooh-ooh Ooh Ooh-ooh View Quote The acoustic version from their unplugged set is especially haunting. That show was Layne Staley singing his eulogy. This one came on the radio shortly after the wife and I lost our first child. I should've pulled over as I was not safe to drive at that moment. Live - Lightning Crashes (Official Music Video) I think this one was already mentioned, but it gets me in the feels every time. It was played at my wife's biological mothers funeral. I despise that woman with every ounce of my being. She was an abusive drug addict my wife's entire childhood and did nothing but cause problems (she was long estranged at this point) during the entire time I knew her. Went out of her way to wreak havoc on anyone she could. But when it played, even I got a bit misty. And that was the only funeral in my life I've attended where I had to force myself to act sad at. I don't want to hear it, but also don't want to thumb it down so it never comes back around. |
