OP, call the local Dive Shop and offer $100 for recovery. Just a thought.

a backhoe and dig a line back from the pond for the water to fill. Do it slowly so the sediment doesn't burry it find suppressor, fill ditch back in and it refills the pond.

I think the idea of approaching the local dive team for recovery is pretty good.
They can book it as actual training hours. |

Thread too good not to tag...
I think clam rake would be best thing. |

If you really have no idea where it is, buy or rent a good underwater metal detector and start working a grid. I would not just get scuba gear on and start rooting around the bottom unless you have a very good idea of where it could be; you could very well end up burying it deeper in silt.
Work smarter and use technology that was designed for the purpose and won't be affected by bottom conditions. Overall you'll save time and effort and you can always resell the detector when done to recoup some of the costs. |

The Ring Finders is a directory of metal detectors you can hire, lots of them do underwater searching as well. https://theringfinders.com/directory/us/tx/

Buddy lost his suppressor in 8ft of Murky, cold water. Due to the water temp and bottom conditions recovery is beyond our capabilities. We have no dive equipment, or underwater metal detector, and the suppressor is only slightly magnetic. Any ideas? Anyone know any recovery divers near East Texas? Right now the pond is very low. This is private property so we have access. THE FRONT FELL OFF View Quote I kid, I kid ..... that would suck |

So...were y'all playing Swamp People or Seals when he lost it? Just curious. Duck hunting with a suppressed shotgun? Well fuck, I have heard everything now. Nothing like pulling up and swinging on a group of teal with a 34" barrel. |

That sucks. I forgot I loosened my surefire QD and sent another round through it once. Suppressor went about 50ft down range. Whoops View Quote Reading through the thread and will post updates and answer some questions in OP |

Sounds like a job for....Aquachigger!

Just man up and dive in at night with a Surefire. You'll find it

rake with handle extension, drag the bottom. I would have just went in after it the day of with a mask and felt around on the bottom for it., 8ft-ish is not bad. Snapping turtles should be in hibernation too

Dude, if this had been 5 years ago I'd thrown my tanks in the truck for a road trip and done it for free beer afterward. Sadly the while "accumulated adult responsibilities" thing mean that's a no-go now.
Maybe ask around your local dive shop? |
|

either man up, get in the water with a wetsuit and a mask, or
call a local dive club. You can probably get some nutter that loves this sort of shit and pay them 100 bucks to get it back for you. the easiest will be a metal detector, even a cheap shitty one should be able to pick that up. and I hope you GPS marked it, or you're going to be searching forever. |

I used to be a boat boy at a marina. Heat of the summer this one guy comes running up asking for my help. He dropped his ray bans in between his boat and the dock and said I'd get a $20 to go find it. The lake is kind of murky but I figured it would be easy enough. I jumped into the 5ft of water (water was down, peak of the summer) and felt my foot land on something. I pulled his glasses out with my toes and was out of the lake within 15 seconds. Fastest cash I ever made.
