Well, that's not a huge compromise when he's getting paid over 2M a year. Easy decision. Given all that he has going for him and his family at at Clemson, why leave just for more money and a hell of lot headaches as a HC. Monk Why give that up to go somewhere that is obviously not doing as well (if they were, they wouldn't be looking for a coach), and struggle, listen to the fan/booster/alumni gripe, and finish 8-5 to 10-3? Hell, I'd stay, coach my sons, win a championship or two, and then call it a day. |

Quoted: Saban's success is "The Process". Players, coordinators, and coaches change. The Process doesn't. Granted "The Process" evolves. Bama's changed from a power running team to high powered offense. Dabo's success is "Family". Things don't changed nearly as much in Clemson. His people stay in place. The stability is the key to their success. Other Coaches and their approaches aren't as complete and that is why their programs are less successful. Monk View Quote |

There is no guarantee. But we KNOW Harbaugh is not that guy. Nothing in sports is guaranteed, unless you are talking about Saban or the Patriots. Fearing the unknown of a different coach is a loser's mentality that settles for the status quo. I don't want the status quo; I want championships. What if that means hiring/firing 5 coaches to get there? So. Fucking. What. Harbaugh *will not* win the Big 10 or make the playoffs. I want to find someone who has a chance to do either of those. Why can't we find a Day or Riley or Smart? We can't if we stick with a Michigan ManTM View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I don't think Saban or Dabo are doing anything particularly special. You have four components to a good college coach: (1) recruiting; (2) player development; (3) motivation; and (4) schemes and strategy. Both Saban and Dabo, like Meyers, like Osborne, and like the rest at the top are generally good at all four. Most college coaches are not good at all four, which is why they don't win the big show. Dabo might be a good model to run on. 5 years might be too soon. And just to pull from the past... Ohio State was just about to fire Woody Hayes. OSU was called the Graveyard of Coaches. And he was not doing well. Then all of a sudden things clicked for him and his teams. Like that quote from Peter in Moneyball saying to Billie Bean who almost accepts a huge contract offer to be the General Manger for the Red Sox: "You're doing it for what the money says. It says what it says to any player who gets big money: that they're worth it." There are probably about 20 other schools looking for this same guy and many of them have a big bag of money in tow. |

I'm a LSU alumn, and my son graduated from Texas A&M. To say I'm a SEC guy is an understatement. I actually don't hate any of the SEC teams except Alabama (but who doesn't ). My biggest hate is reserved for Ohio State and USC (when they're good). When you think about it, it's really weird how you hate one team and like another. It's natural to be nuts over where you went to school, but there are other sports teams with which you have no connection and you love them and hate their rivals. I like the Chicago Cubs and hate the Cardinals. No idea why - nor do I know why I have such disdain for Ohio State. The other team I really don't like is Texas because I live in Austin, it's a liberal shithole, and their fans think they deserve to win the national championship every year.

I’m not going to bag on them hard though as they have played 5 Big10 teams and it’s not their fault none of them are very good. They have a much more difficult schedule remaining with 3 ranked teams so we will definitely get to see if they are for real. |
