I was there. It was pretty awesome. Wish I hadn't been wearing a suit so I could climb around in some of the vehicles.

Quoted: Indeed. I noticed several highly decorated officers uniforms I could not easily identify. Also noticed a booth manned by 2 Canadian soldiers dressed in their version of BDUs. I am sure there were many other nationalities there too. I doubt anything close to being classified is on display at a show of this size. Besides, our adversaries probably do most of their spying on the web or by hacking smart phones these days. Cheaper and less risky. View Quote |

I really liked the autonomous armored vehicles that have their own on-board drone they launch. That's a cool concept.

I got to go a few times when I worked at Barrett. It was a hoot.

That’s pretty badass. I work as a contractor and we do tons of work for the Corps of Engineers and Navy. Mostly work at Aberdeen. I did a big project with Raytheon a few years ago. How do I get tickets to this show?

I was there yesterday, the AM General/Jeep Gladiator was awesome!
Do want! |

That is really cool, lots of futuristic looking armored vehicles.

The AUSA Show is really pretty damn amazing.
I went for my company a few years ago and was just amazed at some of the innovation under that roof. |

SIG Sauer have unveiled their newest entry into the small arms market at the 2018 AUSA exposition, which began today in Washington, DC. Described as the Light Weight Machine Gun, the new weapon was reportedly developed for US Special Operations Command’s medium machine gun requirement and is chambered in .338 Norma Magnum – a rival to General Dynamics’ Lightweight Medium Machine Gun. Read something interesting the other day...that they may be misdiagnosing PTSD when in fact it's TBI from firing "recoiless rifles". No dog in the fight, just glad they're looking at all the probable causes. One small bit that made news in the geek circles...one of the Army GOs got up and said they're buying 200,000 IVAS (that's .mil for Hololens II) in the short term. Industry is piling in also. Worth taking a look at who Microsoft is going to as their component suppliers View Quote |

So what's in your swag bag OP? View Quote I am an amateur at this & it’s the first year I’ve been to the show. I should have grabbed more stuff. I did grab a tote bag from Saab, since the 84mm Carl Gustav really was my main interest. I spent the most time between Saab and AimPoint’s booth. On a side note: one small arms exhibitor seemed not too happy about photography (was it FN?). As me and RockHard approached, one of the female employees ran up to a guy who was taking cell phone photos and started giving him the 3rd degree. We kept our phones in our pockets at that display. Most exhibitors didn’t seem to care if we took photos. |

The placard in the photo says 6.5mm...but you say 6.8...
I thought the new bullet was most likely going to be 6.8 ? Or at least that's what is in development? |

I got one of the stainless steel magpul pint glasses. I couldn't go grab a cocktail on Monday or Tuesday at their booth and they shut the bar down right at 5pm each day so I couldn't leave my booth early. I went Wednesday and sweet talked one of the girls and she pulled one out of their closet for me. Most shows typically have a cocktail hour right when it shuts down 1 or 2 of the days so the industry folks can do a little drinking and networking.
The show counter-intel folks wouldn't not leave us alone either. I told them 50 times most of our stuff (at least my specific product area) is dual-use export and we have no issues exporting through direct commercial or foreign military sales. Usually CI just stops by early on the first day of shows like this and give the elevator speech and drop a card off. Maybe they were lonely and liked us a lot more than everyone else. |
