Twice!

Did you hear that they have identified a second moon orbiting earth? Saw a thread on it yesterday or the day before. Know what that means? Means the gov has gotta fake another moon landing now...

Lucky charms...

Hear me out on this. Kellogg's is known to be a Christian company, in Lucky Charms you have whole grain crosses and ichthys, traditional Christian symbols and the only remotely healthy parts of the cereal. The parts that are damn sure bad for you? Horseshoes, moons, stars, etc...common pagan symbols

Lucky Charms is telling us Christianity is good and paganism is bad

About the moon landing:  I think we went, but since they truly didn't know if things like cameras would work on the moon, I do believe some of the photos are way too perfect and were cooked  up in the studio "just in case".  It was too important an event not to have everything go perfectly.
If it was faked, the Soviets would have been first to denounce it as fraud.
It would be far cheaper to go to the moon than fake a landing.
And there would have to be too many people in on the fakery who would have to keep quiet.  I just  think they had some good, clean photos ready "just in case" the footage they took on the moon was compromised.  Nixon had two speeches prepared, IIRC:   One if the mission was a success, and one if it failed and the astronauts died.  I don't think it's a stretch that they had the more perfect photos made in a studio just in case the real ones were ruined by radiation or something.  They had to prove to the Soviets and the world that it happened.  I do absolutely think the videos are authentic in all their grainy glory.

I don't think you can have hundreds of people working on something like a Manhattan Project or a moon landing without someone either accidentally or on purpose spilling the beans if it's a hoax.

I'm pretty sure the majority of flat-earthers are a joke group, sort of like the "Birds aren't real" proponents.  They are satirizing 'real' conspiracy theories.

From your choices I picked "controlling the weather."  They can't even predict the weather, they certainly can't control it.

There's some doozies in this one:

Secret Plot Against Trump

I know you have to listen from approximately the 47:00 up to about the 1:20 mark, but it's a lulu of a conspiracy theory about a lip reader who discovered a plot to have Pelosi and Pence poison Trump with a secret compound that he would pick up when he shook their hands at the SOTU.  He would die of a heart attack later.  But he found out about it and that's why he didn't shake their hands at the SOTU.

This one's great.  My hat's off to whoever cooked this one up.  Makes the guy who promotes backwards speech look like a slacker, and makes the "Epstein Didn't Kill Himself" meme sound like "Ok, Boomer."

I enjoyed the one where the Yakuza bought an earthquake machine from the KGB and was using it to destroy the US.  And the other where Katrina was a test run of a weather machine that would also be used to destroy the US.  Contrails as weather and mind control, especially when it involves occult explanations combined with weird science are right up there.

High IQ doesn’t mean smart in all areas - it just measures a few things.  I have met people with lower than average IQs whose decision making I’d trust whole-heartedly (though I wouldn’t give them calculus problems), and intelligent experts who I would only trust in their narrow expertise.

obviously, Flat Earth theory was proposed as a means of population and tax base control..
If every one is jumping in boats and leaving your country, how do you extract taxes?

No, you can't leave, stay here and pay taxes.
Why not?
Because the earth is flat and you'll die, so stay here and live...and pay taxes.

Geeze, even Caesar made everyone go back to there hometowns to complete the Census.  That's why Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Mary and Joseph had to go back to the town of their ancestors (David) so that the local authoritarian can count its tax slaves... people.

They weren't convinced it would go perfectly.  Nixon had a speech prepared in case of failure.

Fate has ordained that the men who went to the moon to explore in peace will stay on the moon to rest in peace.

These brave men, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin, know that there is no hope for their recovery. But they also know that there is hope for mankind in their sacrifice.

These two men are laying down their lives in mankind's most noble goal: the search for truth and understanding.

They will be mourned by their families and friends; they will be mourned by their nation; they will be mourned by the people of the world; they will be mourned by a Mother Earth that dared send two of her sons into the unknown.

In their exploration, they stirred the people of the world to feel as one; in their sacrifice, they bind more tightly the brotherhood of man.

In ancient days, men looked at stars and saw their heroes in the constellations.

In modern times, we do much the same, but our heroes are epic men of flesh and blood.

Others will follow, and surely find their way home. Man's search will not be denied. But these men were the first, and they will remain the foremost in our hearts.

For every human being who looks up at the moon in the nights to come will know that there is some corner of another world that is forever mankind's.

A major factor of IQ is pattern recognition. The higher your IQ, the easier you recognize patterns. Many conspiracy theories are based on false pattern recognition. Basically a limited study of facts leads to a false pattern, while a full study & weighting of facts would disprove it. Most peoples understanding of the large majority of subjects is an inch deep and a mile wide, even people with high IQ's. High levels of knowledge on specific subjects is highly specialized, requiring an extensive investment of time to the detriment of other knowledge. Many experts in one subject have a false sense of competency in other areas. And in some areas facts and available knowledge are and possibly will remain limited, not allowing anyone to truly be able to fully study them, so false patterns, or "conspiracy theories", are accepted by even the experts.

Another major factor are individual biases, these cause people to dismiss certain information, underweight some, overweight some, and cling to certain "facts". That and regardless of intelligence most people use inductive reasoning, even & especially subconsciously, and then try to use parallel construction to persuade others through the appearance of deductive reasoning.

All of them.

Moon troofers are the apex, though. I’d say it was flat earthers, but none of them are actually serious.

Dinosaurs are a myth folks, UFOphiles, and cryptid conspiracists are also pretty bad.

It’s no surprise that folks that believe one usually believe them all. Pointing out the gaping holes in their faux arguments usually gets accusations of either being part of the conspiracy or “closed minded”.

The Illuminati and Bilderburgs theories are wrong (like the ZOG/JOOOS! running the world), but usually just reflect people’s views that they aren’t in control, so they assume some other is.  Dangerous and wrong.  Not ridiculous.  The Georgia Guidestones are genuinely weird, of course there will be conspiracy theories. The Pearl Harbor, LBJ and JFK, and Elvis theories reflect the tragedy those things were - “we should have known”, “LBJ was an untrustworthy power-hungry monster”, “Elvis’s life was taking a toll, he should’ve taken a break”.  Sad.  Not ridiculous.  I was especially partial to the “Bloom County” version of the latter, where Elvis became a not-so-hard-working road repairman.  And given the real inspiration Charles Manson took from “Helter Skelter”, the cultural touchstone Beatles albums were (plus their eccentric covers), and the death of John Lennon, Beatles albums aren’t surprising as a conspiracy theory.

Contrails?  Nuts.  Faking the moon landing?  It’s a big leap for some people to accept.  Flat Earth today?  Stupid.  9/11?  Given the hatred of GW and the shock 9/11 was, I’d be surprised if they didn’t exist, even if they’re wrong.

The one where people said the pentagon was hit by a missile and the WTC was imploded with nano thermite.    The pure stupidity of that one irks me to this day.

They could have just believed that elements in the fedgov/Jews/whoever, conspired to allow Saudi terrorists to do the deed.   But they had to go full retard.  I learned a lot about human nature in the last 20 years.  None of it good.
