Millions of ARs in circulation in the hands of civilians and Sig introduces a new rifle and a new cartridge.  Historically either of the two individually has been a problem.

It’ll fizzle and go away.  The cost of that rifle is comical.

For the record, I love Sigs.  I don’t love how the MPX kind of disappeared after I bought two of them, and put out a second generation 10 minutes later, with parts and magazines being incompatible with the first.

They really did screw the pooch, in their handling of the MPX. At least your lower is capable of using the "Gen 2" uppers, could be worse and have been different too.

The SPEARs success will be determined on if it's adopted by the military. If it does, it's high ammo cost won't matter as much and it might come down with other companies jumping on board.

Keep in mind, the ridiculous high cost of this one was for the "limited edition" crap and the silencer included. Time will tell on the price for the mass produced model.

Improvement maybe, but I don't know that you can say "vast." What does the MCX do that other current military 5.56 rifles don't?

I’m going to lol at you on this. If the 556 makes a hit, it did a great job at killing. That came down to accurate fire not “magic bullet.” Is there any evidence of the .277 killing anyone yet? Has the spear been used by warfighters in a combat role?

You got a pretty rifle there op and it puts pretty numbers down on paper!

Maybe you should look up the definition of "vast" because that's not it. "Slightly in a few ways" is more appropriate.

English might not be your first language so I'll give you a pass.

My conspiracy theory is that this entire "Russian body armor" thing is a pretense to develop and anti-robot gun.

I think they're pre-emptively getting ready for a future battlefield full of lightly armored RC cars with small turrets. They asked "wat round 4 robot?" and this is what they came up with.

Welcome to the future.

I've been wondering the same thing. Maybe they're worried about actual powered armor or new even lighter plates that act like level 4 but are light enough that they can get a lot more coverage.

My Gen 1 MPX has never choked with Gen 2 mags, and I have been able to find the Gen 1 mags as cheap as $9/ea for 20-rounders.

The big disappointment for me is the inability to change calibers.

Utterly false. The supply chain, spare parts, ammunition availability MUST be taken into account when judging a weapon.

Higher cycle than what?   I have enough spare parts and pins to rebuild 20 ARs in a small box in my garage that I've collected as spares for a couple hundred bucks or from LPK leave outs when I use other triggers.

There's a limited number of the NGSW guns in the wild. That's why the prices are so extreme. We'll eventually know what prices the commercial guns will bring, and I think it will be in line with other high-end large frame semi auto rifles.

Yeah these are the collectors edition, plus they are the first run, plus they have a can. Each drive the cost up significantly. My hope is they settle in around 4k. I’d be in on a lightly used one at that rate. As is I barely shoot my existing large frames enough to drop car prices on a gun.
