Fuck no it wasn't!   I remember that "smokers rights" shit all too well!   Fuck all you goddamn smokers, polluting everyone's air with your foul shit.  I remember, and resent to this day, all of your foul, dangerous shit I had to breathe into order to work.   I hope all you smokers freeze to death standing outside for your fix.
That's one thing the liberals got right - banning all that shit.  In restaurants, at work.   Fuck you!   It pisses me off just remembering all the shit I had to go through everywhere because of you foul, disgusting, selfish people.  Fuck you again!

You should move back to MA. You are making the rest of us look bad.

No. That's a private businesses decision though, just as it's an individual's decision to not support that business.

I dont smoke. But i also dont support the government telling people what to do. Apparently the last bastion of freedom here is all for government control of private businesses.
Do you supports trannies in the bathroom/locker room with your pre-teen daughters?

No. That's a private businesses decision though, just as it's an individual's decision to not support that business.
Why do you hate freedom?

Should be up to private businesses if they want to allow it or not

I don't want to smell your big diesel passenger  truck  so lets get the government involved to make them illegal

Exactly this. Funny how some people dont like certain things and automatically think the government should make them illegal to appease them. If you dont like it, dont go there. I hate the smell of coffee, maybe they should ban that too.

I don't care if you breathe in smoke...just don't breathe it out in my air.

Watching my mom die with COPD sorta changed your perspective on smoking.

I'm hard pressed to think of anyone I know that still smokes.  Campus has been smoke free for at least fifteen years, likewise bars and restaurants.  Only exception in Iowa is the casinos.  They had better lobbyists I guess.

I don’t like the hypocrisy, now it’s ok to smell weed smoke everywhere, but cigarette smoke is a capital offense, to the extent that you have “smoke free” campuses that ban it even in the parking lot. I didn’t particularly like the smoke, it’s horrible for your health etc., but I do believe it should be up to businesses to decide, especially if the majority of your customers want to smoke. It was from a better time imo, the nanny state is much worse.

Yes! The country WAS much better when smoking was allowed everywhere….but that’s NOT why it was better.

The college town near me all banned smoking themselves, no govt. Everyone still bitched about it.

How did Geezers ruin it when the people who smoked indoors back in the day are mostly old Geezers now (the ones who haven't died of lung cancer or other smoking related health problems yet)? This thread doesn't make any sense.

The country was better off back when smoking was allowed indoors but that had very very little to do with cigarettes

The country WAS certainly better back then, but smoking in doors had nothing to do with why.

Why do YOU hate freedom? Now the rest of us non smokers have the freedom to breath clean air. You can still take your cancer sticks outside.

it used to be up to the business owner to decide.
why do you hate the freedom of business owners to decide how best to serve their customers?

why do you want small town bars to go out of business?

is freedom from someone else's freedom not simply tyranny?

I don't smoke anymore so I don't really have a dog in this fight.

But for fucks sake if you don't like the smoke filled pool hall go somewhere fucking else instead of demanding the government tell folks how to run their establishment like a god damned Karen.

Freedom is hard I guess.

I can agree with this some establishments should be able to set their own rules on it but all in all I shouldn't have to breathe in that stench because I wanted to get a beer and a burger at the local burger joint.

Its just the honest to God truth.

It also made us way better at doing wars.

Ww1 and ww2 both wins.

Then we banned indoor smoking and we've lost every war since.

Iraq war, Afghanistan both losses.

It's simple, and self regulating if you just allow businesses to set their own rules. The snow flakes wont go there and if they lose a significant amount of revenue the company will just ban it themselves. I suspect most places would.

Why is more government the answer?
View Quote
The Snowflakes would still fuck it up.

Michigan banned indoor smoking for restaurants and bars. The response was to build outside areas for the smokers. They put up wind breaks, covers for rain and heaters for when it got cold but the area was still open to the air.

The fucking snowflakes decided they wanted to use this new outdoor area and continued to complain about the smokers.

ETA: Now all smoking is banned in any place serving food or beverages even outdoor areas including patios.
