If you all watch the movie closely,

You may see where @KA3B was an extra in the Volleyball scene..

Good, because there's been so many fakes trailers posted lately.

I heard they were trying to get an F14 flying again for this, I wonder if it happened.
In the last few seconds of the trailer there was an F14 flying off.
They built a full size mock up.

There have been several news articles in the last month about it causing traffic problems when they were moving it across town.

Good thing he didn't need to punch out of that thing. Don't think your shoulder harness is suppose to be down over the arms.

Surprised he wouldn't float out of the seat during maneuvers.

Who noticed the pressurized space helmet?  That's not an F/A-18, F-35, F-22 helmet.  Looks like an SR-71 helmet + a generation or two.  I'm guessing test flight of a hypersonic space plane:

https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/172926/Untitled_jpg-1021003.JPG

Correction, I think it is an SR-71 helmet, check out the sun visor hinge:

I think the P-51 is in the trailer at about 1:30. Just a few frames.

Given the circumstances, including the one about Tom Cruise already being an accomplished aviator in his own right,  I can't rule out that possibility until I hear that yes that happened or no that didn't happen, from official sources.

But with CGI being at its current state, it's 100 percent possible that the cat launch was done by a Navy pilot and Tom's face replaced his via state of the art CGI.

The only thing that threw me off was him wearing a new "space helmet" with lights inside it to illuminate his face.  That dodge has been used in a lot of sci-fi movies and TV shows and of course it's a load of bullshit in the real world.  The last thing you want is lights in your face causing glare and fucking up your night vision.    It's done only so the audience can see your face.

I'll watch this.  And I expect to enjoy it.

Doesn't have to be the US Navy...
He's an accomplished pilot and from my understanding also flew the helicopter stunt in a movie a few years ago.

He might not be but I sure wouldn't put it past him actually flying the thing

Why yes, it could be the Super Hornet that belongs to any of the one other country that operates them.
