Entitled got nothing to do with it.   They can give the discount to everyone, or no one.   I honestly don't gaf.

Did you somehow miss the Amazon Christmas thread?       They were handing out 90% discounts like candy.

Can you guess why???               Concentrate, bear down, and THINK.

This 40% discount deal is a cynical ploy to make a subgroup of people feel "special" and appreciated.    So they are selling a product that is 300% overpriced, at a 40% discount.        How is that a good deal?

I am amazed how common sense eludes people.

He is. I'll admit, the parameters of "the deal" kinda rubbed me the wrong way a bit. I'm not gonna swear off Trijicon over it or anything, and I'm pretty sure when I'm in the market for another optic I'll give 'em a look again as I love the ones I have. But still, I have to admit it does, as I said, kinda rub me the wrong way a bit. Nothing wrong with saying so.

You mist have missed everything else I wrote? I'm not saying "Fuck Trijicon", and have no issues buying from them now or in the future. I'm also not gonna lose any sleep over it, because it rubbed me the wrong way "a bit" <== indicates a tiny small amount. I don't live or die by .mil discounts (except my USAA car insurance).

Yup, You get 10% at Lowes also.

I guess if we served before 2001, we don't deserve that !

I appreciate they are doing this.

FWIW, I wouldn't find it insulting if they only did it for Vietnam era veterans, or only for Cold War era guys either.

And I'm willing to bet 40% off of MSRP is around street price.

It seems like it for the ACOGs. Atleast pretty close to when places put them on sale. The RMRs seem to be a good deal.

Perhaps, could the discount have something to do with recognition and appreciation of the fact that GWOT veterans are the people who used this optic in combat for the last 14 years, rather than a slight against previous generations of veterans?

It's actually a marketing ploy to get their product into a target demographic.  Somehow "internet basement dweller" didn't meet Trijicon's criteria for a market share.

With that said i'm headed to IHOP to get in the manager's face about not giving me senior pricing.

Folks joined all the time post 2001 with no guarantee of a deployment.  It was all a matter of luck.  Was there a higher chance of being deployed?  Sure, because we were rotating big army units through a couple different war zones for 13+ years.

Makes them no different from dudes that joined in 82 and stared at the Fulda Gap, or in 79 and jumped into Grenada, or in 88 and drove tanks into Kuwait and Iraq.

And people who never served whine because it categorizes their lack of service as lesser as well.

Who cares?

Its a promo marketing to a demographic, which just so happens to be modern veterans.  Maybe Trijicons theory is that GWOT vets are more likely to still be serving...and as such pushing their products on the people who will be using them at work (and influencing them to be purchased for work).

the TA33 is probably the best ACOG a guy can buy for his AR. The other models might have more magnification or the extra 200 meters shown on the BDC to take you out to 800, but in terms of speed, light weight, eye relief and cost, the TA33 has them beat.

I've had mine since around 2006. They only offered one reticle color at the time, these days I would go for the TA33-GH which has a green horse shoe.
