Turkey IS boring! I’ll be having chili rellenos for Thanksgiving dinner.

Agreed, unless it's fried. We're having Cornish hens this year.

Damn OP, that's some dem sounding shit right there.
Eat what the fuck you want and the rest of us will enjoy turkey or whatever suits us. |

Turkey is great! The Whirling Dervishes are a hoot. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/eb/ce/b2/ebceb27555634d29e0c53b7e3c26a05b.gif View Quote |

Sounds like a first world problem. I prefer the drumsticks, but I wouldn't call turkey boring. Now, go be thankful

Even good Turkey is mediocre compared to the other alternatives. Chicken, ham, let's throw duck in there for good measure. Ham is my favorite at large gatherings and holidays.
Truly the bastard bird. |

its called fowl for a reason. bird is last on my list of meats.

I hate turkey because of boomers. Boomers who didn't know how to properly cook a turkey.
One year I decided to take matters into my own hands. Brined a turkey for my mom to cook and fried another one. I still don't like turkey from years of eating dry nasty ass turkey. |
|
If it was good enough for George Washington and Crazy Horse at the first Thanksgiving, then it’s good enough for me.

As long as it's brined and smoked or fried, it's good to go! The best part is the left over gobbler sammiches you can make. Hoagie roll, Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, and whatever else is around on a bun! View Quote Failed To Load Title |

Turkey is fine, but it's just a side dish for the gravy and stuffing.

I am a big fan of goose for a roast dinner myself. Haven't had it for years, but I have fond memories of my mum cooking it at Christmas in the past.
|
|
I’ve cooked a Thanksgiving turkey for the last 35 years.
Today we’re having Mexican food and drinks. Ole~ |
|
I agree one hundred percent ! This year is ham for me, maybe a little turkey but it has to have gravy on it. We don't do Thanksgiving at our house, we go to a friend's place. They do the turkey, and we bring the ham. Next year I am making tamales!

Apparently, there are more traditional things to eat today than turkey

I agree I'm not a big fan of turkey. I would rather just have a good handmade cheeseburger and some french fries for a Thanksgiving dinner
|

I agree. How many years is enough? Last five years has been elk, deer, rabbit, prime rib and grouse.

My Grandparents had Opossum for their first Thanksgiving together (back in the day), now there's excitement

My mom's at the house. Came home yesterday with a stack of printed recipes and told her to pick one. None of them involved turkey.
We're having slow cooker chicken and dumplings this year. They're in the Crock Pot right now. After making a turkey every Thanksgiving for the past 20 years, I decided it was time for a break. |

It's almost cliche to have it at Thanksgiving . This year we had Elk instead (I work this evening) it was absolutely delicious. View Quote Pics soon. |

Chuck into a deep fryer full of sizzling peanut oil fast...
I guarantee it won’t be boring. |
|
Brisket > turkey
Always. It’s possible for turkey to be delicious, but generally it’s an overbred tasteless mutant fowl unworthy of consideration for fine eating. The most badass turkey anyone can make is just good. The ceiling is very low for turkey. |

Have you had a smoked turkey? How about a Cajun fried turkey?
