View Quote That was last year. Possession is legal since 7/1 of last year. But it is still illegal to carry one concealed. That's what the current legislation addresses. |

Just to be sure,....
When this passes, THIS will be legal to carry hidden in my underpants. Attached File . . . . . . . But THIS will still be ILLEGAL to carry in my pocket. Attached File (And I don't want to hear anyone telling me its "OK" because the ass-end of the knife and the pocket-clip are visible. Cops have charging people with these as "concealed" even though the ass-end is showing, and on the argument that the "character" of knife - that is the pushbutton operation is concealed. Now that the pushbutton is decriminalized, its still a dirk or a dagger. Both of which are still illegal to carry concealed. The cop can't tell whether its a clip/drop-point type blade versus a dirk/dagger blade when the ass-end is all that's exposed.) I think the whole thing is asinine. I'm not vouching for it. I'M FUCKING WARNING YOU. But go ahead and carry the dirk/dagger variety if you're feeling clever - FAFO.) |

PA just did this. Bought a $350 Microtech to celebrate. Learned my PM2 is better.

Quoted: Nunchuks and blackjacks are also illegal lol I kinda sorta want a blackjack honestly View Quote I used to have a blackjack in the 80's. I've told the story several times here. Every time I tell it, it always makes the Blackjack-Bro's here really mad, because I rag on them hard because I take an adamant position that blackjacks really suck as a weapon. Especially suck as a DEFENSIVE weapon. In 1985, I hit a dude right between the eyes so hard with my blackjack that I broke the blackjack. To my incredulous dismay, he just snarled, and bashed me in the mouth (with his fist) so hard that my teeth came through my lip. And there I am holding a busted blackjack - with the lead sproingy-part sticking out of the torn leather, and me looking like Wile E. Coyote taking yet another loss. Nawww man fuck blackjacks. But speaking of impact weapons, I did recently get an ASP. The ASP exceeded my expectations as to dangerousness by a profound margin. I bought the (expensive) ASP because my daughter-in-law had an incident being attacked by an unleashed dog while she was out on a walk with her infant (my grandson) in a baby carriage. She was mad about that, and said something in my presence about wanting a telescoping baton. So I got one for her. Upon arrival, I realized two things. First, the opening/closing of the ASP (this is a real ASP not a knock-off) requires significant hand-strength and some amount of upper body strength. Second, that thing is a serious fucking weapon. I think if I hit somebody between the eyes with an ASP, as hard as I hit that dude with that POS blackjack, there is a very high probability the ASP would kill them. On those observations, I decided the daughter-in-law probably lacked the hand-strength to deploy the ASP without unintentionally flinging it into the bushes; and secondly I don't think she could wield it under stress it in such a way that it still wouldn't escape her grasp; and third this thing is no bamboo switch. If she panicked and struck some dog's owner with it, she might muster enough strength for one blow to do damage - maybe deadly damage. If you're gonna wield a deadly weapon, you better fucking know what you're doing with it. So the ASP is lying in the land of unloved toys for now. In my opinion, a real ASP - compared to my old blackjack - is damn near like a 500-pound-bomb compared to a firecracker. If anyone ever comes at you with an ASP, they're gonna fuck you up if you can't stop them. I folded the exposed lead whapper back into the busted leather in the blackjack. I was escorting a snow-plow around Adams Morgan one night when that damn thing kept falling out the pocket of my cop-pants while I was riding shotgun in the snow-plow. I guess I was having too much fun riding in the plow that night (plowing-in parked cars is a hoot, and I'm an asshole), and I didn't notice "Old Unfaithful," the blackjack, missing from my pocket when I eventually got out of the plow. Oh well. Good riddance. Even though I wish I still had it as a souvenir from the days of doing all manner of crazy shit. |

Assuming the governor signs it and it becomes law, I think I'll stick to my existing setup of a small fixed blade (with a single edge...not a "dirk" or "dagger" as best I know) carried mid-line and my Zero Tolerance folder.
Auto knives have a tendency to open when you don't want them to that keeps me away from them. |

I'm glad they're close to being legal to carry, but I still won't carry mine. I'm not planning to cut my shroud lines as I'm hanging from a tree, and regular flip blades are nearly as fast (and cheaper).

It comes with one pocket-clip, but I added a second one. This allows me to carry it in identical orientation in either right/left pocket. The dual pocket-clips also serve as a sort of "pommel" which tremendously aids in keeping a positive grip on the knife. Of course, I could outfit an automatic knife with dual clips, and achieve much the same "pommel-on-a-folder" effect. The reason I will probably stick with the (non-automatic) 110 for EDC is because it opens crazy-fast via the thumb-stud (thumb-stud also on BOTH sides of the blade). There is no question that I can open the 110 with the thumb-stud as fast as I could operate the same knife with an automatic button. So what's to gain with an automatic? Nothing for my purposes. If show-off purposes matter, the 110 opens with enough noise and flourish to rival any other clip-blade automatic (of which I have a few). Yet I will say this, the OTF knives have that one advantage of being able to close with one hand, just as easily as they open with one hand. I can close the 110 with one hand. But, closing the 110 with one hand is a slightly awkward maneuver, and the chances of dropping the 110 while closing it with one hand are way greater than closing an OTF. I have not heard anything about his inclinations, but it is a GOP bill, so I imagine it a better than even chance he will sign it. He can also send it back with amendments. That was added in the Senate version, so I think there is a legit chance the governor may try to take it out. |

From Article V, Section 6: (iii) The Governor may recommend one or more specific and severable amendments to a bill by returning it with his recommendation to the house in which it originated. The same procedures for considering his recommendation are applicable as stated in subsection (b) (iii) for bills returned with his recommendation. The Governor shall either sign or veto a bill returned to him from a reconvened session. If the Governor vetoes the bill, the veto shall stand and the bill shall not become law. If the Governor does not act on the bill within thirty days after the adjournment of the reconvened session, the bill shall become law without his signature. |

If I understand correctly, the bill was “communicated” to the Governor on the last day of the 2023 legislative session.

I really don’t understand how the LIS system comes up with today’s date as being the turning point.
